Hello !Wouldn't like to choose which is the best (worst?) of them two really!

Astra for me everytime. Mind you, my family have had about 20 MK3s between us!

Unsurprisingly it's Astra for me too.

Depends what you use the car for, of course, but I'd say a 60bhp Hi-Torq Ashtray mated to the pretty much unbreakable GM auto is a good call for reliability.Scenics of that age can be a disaster, my late uncle had a Y-plate one and needed to spend £500 on some electronic module to get his indicators working again!

+ for the Astra. The ex has a 97 1.6 artic auto that I bought in 02.

1.4 & automatic combination must be quite dismal.I bought an Astra mk3 recently, it's a bit stodgy to drive but seems pretty rugged, well built (at Ellesmere Port :)) and everything still works after more than 160k and almost 15 years.

is that the 1.4 spi or mpi? i had a K plate 1.4 Si once with the MPi engine and it went like shit of a shovel until i blew it up, Great car.

I had a disabled pal at school who got a brand new Astra 1.4 auto as his first car. When he was 16! Believe me, it was plenty quick enough! Took a hell of a lot of abuse too.

Cavette and axrescuer may correct me, but I am pretty sure that any Mk3 Astra 1.4 auto will be the 60bhp "Hi-Torq" single-point injection. A combo that seems to work well (shock, horror!) in early Corsas!

well, the didastra is my other halfs mobile,so not too worried personally.even thru all that cold turn the key and off it went, etc etc.the renner was absolutley shite,i so hated that car-just starting to get very expensive, and couldnt even burn it.Astra, for £300 pounds sterling, bloody super
