I was checking online quotes for my son for when he's 17. I think we are in the second cheapest postcode band and the lowest I could find was £1300 TPO for a fictional Fiat Panda 750L.

Yeah Lankytim, i rooted through the thread over on R3W with the same Rebel Van , and afew members asked what the plan was with it.And it seems the owners are going to fix it up (Apparently).Richard, did you try getting a quote with you on the insurance ?The cheapest i got for the Red Devil, was £1350 with ye' old man on.It's because we are boy racers "init" .... It's a shame that afew peoples actions ruin it for everyone else.(I know it is not entirely down to Barry Boys, there are things like winderscreen chip repairs that push up insurance too.... little rant over )

I was just looking out of interest because my son is still only 14 but I'll try that and see what difference it makes.

Is the Collingwood quote for the learners policy they do? Can anyone with a full licence supervise you?

Posted

Yeah it is only for learner drivers, but the catch is that the fully licensed supervisor cannot drive (Why i don't know)So if your son or daughter is abit scared of driving from where the car is parked , and wants you to drive it to a quiet location, then you will have to take out a seperate insurance policy for yourself to drive.

I wondered about that. Collingwood used to have an agent at the Uveco centre on the dock road in Wallasey. The lady who ran it was called Gail and I had the number but the ex Mrs Claim was having one of her regular examinations of my calls and texts and found it and then promptly smashed the phone screaming "WHO THE FUCK IS GAIL??? IS IT SOMEONE YOU MET OFF FACEBOOK??? I WILL NOT STAND FOR INFIDELITY! YOUR JUST AS BAD AS MY EX!!! I'M MOVING TO THE SHETLAND ISLES AND CHANGING YOUR SON'S NAME! YOU CAN'T STOP ME!!!" So I can't help you with a number I'm afraid!

Sounds totally irrational and mental, therefore normal behaviour for a female.

Sh*t warren !No problem sir, thank you anywayAgree with you Pog !Yeah Tayne i think Senior Minimad5's insurance policy will make him Third Party on my car, he just has to have my permission and i have to be insured (Or something like that)

Egerton Park is pretty local to you and is a private estate. Can't you have a few lessons around there?

Posted

Nope, because it is accessible to the public, meaning Mr Police Man could come along and take my car off me (If i were not insured)I want to be totally legal too , to be honest. As i would be shitting a brick

Firstly sorry for the bad pictures, i have to use an old phone to take pictures with, and the battery lasts 2 minutes at maximum, so i was rushing to take pictures :(

First snippet, Fiesta rear arch now "blown in"

Posted Image

Front valance is temp' black, untill i can get more Venetian Red

Posted Image

Feeling really happy with the fiesta, as since i have carried out a full serviced, it runs Bob on !

I'm thinking of selling it soon-ish, as i want to plough all the money into the Rebel, and boom around in that 8)

Speaking of Rebel ....

Offending Bolt that hits body ...

Temp' Door Repair

Fixed Seat ! (Thanks for the springs Tim)

Posted Image

As you can see it looks rather sorry for itself, i was unable to find any of the bolts that kept the body and chassis together, as it was caked in about an inch of crud.

After a quick session of manual scraping.... i got bored and brought out the big guns, KARCHER washer thingie ma bob.

Anyway i can now see how it is attached, and hope to pull body and chassis apart some time soon.

I found aload of random colours on the chassis, from silver to peach.

So i think a Silver chassis is in store.

I will try upload more pictures soon

Comments, questions and so on all welcome ... Thanks folks !

...Little question for GJR ...

What wheels should my car have ?

These

or these ?

Posted Image

It did come with chrome "caps" so i presume the second wheel.

But i could be very wrong

Thanks :D

Good work again there fella. Take it you'll be testing the Fiesta, it'd be a shame to see your hard work go by without an MOT certificate to show for your trouble.*Have you rang that garage yet by the way? I'm told he's taking an ex-employee back on but I think (don't quote me on it) they're still short staffed.

Posted

Paint it orange. A girl I worked with 20 years ago had one, it was nice then. I will try to remember the reg, and see if it still exists.

Posted

It's already MOT'd Cavette :)Just need to drive the fecking thing now (MONEY !!)Yeah i rang it today, but there was no answer, so instead i cracked on with taking the gearbox, prop-shaft and diff' off the rebel.Albert - Orange .... i dunno, i quite like Blue  I think GJR's one was Orange (If i remember rightly)Anyway i need a shower, so bye for now !(I will take picture tomorrow or later - light permitting)Thanks for the kind words Cav'

The first wheel is an Imp one, they fit but need thin spacers on whichever side is closest to the chassis (what? you surely don't expect Reliant to have mounted the shell straight! )Second wheel looks like a Rebel one, best plan is to source some 13" A35/A40 or Sprite wheels, then tyres can be 145/80%x13 and those are a whole lot easier to get now than the original 145/80x12 ones.Yeah, mine was orange, possibly still is unless its current custodian has washed any more of its paint off....... The chassis you have there is missing a recall mod that was supposed to have been carried out on all Rebels during the early '70s, there should be a diagonal gusset between the front spring platform on each rear spring, and the chassis to the side of the platform, reason it should be fitted is that the spring platforms have a habit of cracking and falling off.Easy to do though, especially with the body off. The kitten reg can get rubber strips that the shell sits on, the originals were canvas and held water against the top surface of the chassis which is probably not a good idea.edited: Just noticed that the Imp wheel in the pic has been fastened to the car with the original wheel nuts. FAIL!!!! See how the rebates that the nuts sit in are unevenly worn? When using Imp rims on a Rebel, it's essential that Imp wheel nuts also be used as the originals are mini ones and they have a different angle to their chamfered edge. Imp wheel are a common thing though, my red Rebel, GUS, had a set fitted and I think that the Rebel 1600GT also came with Imp wheels to go with its Lotus Elan-sourced front disc brakes.

It only has 2 of them (thankfully)But i have 3 Rebel ones ... know anyone who wants to swap 2 Imp for 1 Rebel wheel ?

Erm... i'm VERY stupid and don't quite picture what you mean ... sorry

Rebel 1600GT

I thought the Rebel 1600GT was not produced, because it would of been faster or what have ya' than the Scimiter (Only what i have read)Thanks again for the help and interest everyone Big thanks GJR

haha, i did not put them tyres on ! Cracking walls, bleeding silly holes or chunks and low dept, ooh and bobbles (Just like the rear fiesta tyre  )I know all of the above are not so clever :) But i plan on buying new Rubber for both cars, as i just will not risk it.I will include pictures of:TyresGearbox Prop-shaftRear Diff Stuck cylinder headAnd maybe a picture of my ugly mug with grubby hands  Stay tuned
