1800 Zetec, how god-awful can it be? I would have though it would be a decent steer.

I had one of these for a few years, mine was a 92 K plate, and it was a 'Ghia Si' model meaning a rear wash wipe, a spoiler, a cassette and a cd player and a 130 bhp 1.8 Zetec, that ford took from the XR3i / rs1800i parts bins and fitted to the 'ghia si' Orions.

I found it to be a fantastic car, the early zetec's are cracking engines if you change the oil in them regularly, it went like stink, sat 4 comfortably, cost bugger all to run, well equipped (heated windscreen etc etc).

Rust is the main enemy of these.

Any of the aero-shape Escorts/Orions with a 1.6/1.8 Zetec engine are a proper driver's car, they sound great too. I think the negative opinions seem to stem from the crummy old pushrod and CVH ones, which I've never driven to be honest.

I had a K reg 1.4 Escort, it was RUBBISH.

Mainly because it was slow though, a bigger engined one would probably be alright.

I CAN HAZ WHITE HEN? (1.3 tho'). Drove one a good few years ago, and they were a bit bouncy, noisy and cramped. But better than a Panda of the same vintage.

That is teh secks.

I love this style of Jaguars, I've driven a few over the years and i can say they drive as good as they look, This one looks pretty decent for £1495 even if it does need a small bit of TLC.

Arthur describes the business philosophy of Daley Enterprises]

Arthur Daley: You make contact with your customer. Understand their needs. And then flog them something they could well do without.

Lovely car! seriously cool in these days of 2.2 litre turbo diesels! :D

Should really be in the bargains thread too, it's a 10 year old, left hand drive V6, and £2499 classified.

Is this the same one you were perving over before Mr Boll? It's for sale again, getting cheaper each time.

Cockwand has taken the engine out, lost the driveshafts and bits, and given up. Good work fella.

When I was getting excited over that thing it had an engine, but the seller, who was gasping for it to go to a good home, had ebay'd it to someone who wanted to nick its engine! Looks like that went ahead. Now it just looks totally depressing, i think i'd rather spend 4 or 5 times as much on finding a less shit example in Italy and fetching it home.

Sorry but i have to disagree, i had a 1996 P reg Escrot 1.6 lx, at 3 years old old i thought it was wank Zetec? 90 bhp and an average of 26 mpg, it was shit.

It was an ex company car though.

You can tell me to f*** *** if you wish, pm me!

A shame this looks absolutely knackered - back to black on the tyres and not quite enough silver paint on the wheels

I knew a pair of brothers in Southport who built a Pop-up like that, with a bit more hot-rod about it. Somewhere I must have a photo of it...

Around the same time, I knew a bloke from Wigan who had a brand new (1978) Pageant Blue Maxi 1750HL... which he drag-raced regularly! Strange boy...

I'd love to roll in that Mk1 Escort just as it is. Deserves to stay that way. Those A-pillars look crunchy though.

BUILT PROFESSIONALLY WITH A FERRARI BODY KIT

I am unable to see any Ferrari-like elements anywhere on this vehicle.

Q: Hi what Ferrari is yur car surpose to be

A: Hello The guy I bought the car from said it is a Ferrari body kit. It has Lamborgini type doors, but for sure there is no other car like it Hope this helps Terry

LOL!!! You can imagine a sort of cycle going on there.

At the sales place: 'Yeah its a Ferrari kit innit' 'Is it?" 'Yeah Defo" 'Ok well in that case i'll buy it'

Shortly afterwards, at home: 'HI Honey i'm home, check out my new car, its a ferrari!' 'Is it?' "Well the lad I bought it off said it defo is' 'Ok then great! I've always wanted to ride in a ferrari'

Few months later: 'Hi what Ferrari is yur car supposed to be' etc etc etc.

Advice to prospective owners: If you take the Maxi to Monaco, many people will take photos of you with such a rare performance vehicle, rather than the common Ferrari's.

It’s a magnet for the opposite sex and much less pretentious than a Porsche. The interior can be converted to a double bed and has tinted rear windows for ultimate privacy, handy for saving on those Travelodge bills. Try doing that in a 911.
