That will leave a curved tube sticking out and up that you could catch your skirt or trousers on (delete where applicable).

Maybe that's why the left side appears to be bent down a bit.

She turned up a couple of times at the photostudio where I worked.  She wasn't famous then and I had no idea who she was until years later.
