Oof, that piano & dresser!

Which, sadly, will probably both  end up in a skip. The piano was shipped to us from Dublin in the late seventies. Nobody wants them and we don’t have room for it. Sad but if anyone wants something, let me know and buyer collects!

I was driving home from work this evening, with a colleague behind, when he rang me. “I don’t want to worry you but when you pulled away from the lights at the hospital, your car was billowing blue smoke and did it again when you pulled away from the next roundabout” WTF? Never had any problems before, FSH, 113000 miles, no loss of power and car (the Superb) still feels great. At least I haven’t bought it yet🙁. I’ll get him to follow me again next week to see if it does the same.

I haven’t been able to get the Superb to do this again, even had Mrs W following and Wiblet junior looking out back window, with some hard accelerations. Oil level is still at max too, so not sure what to make of it really.
I am considering still buying it and part exchanging it for something like this, with the hope they give more for my p/ex than I’ve paid for it

Sorry, can’t get link to work and, I know, not very autoshite but I need the comfort of something modernist as my main player.

I really rate these. Have driven a few, including DSG form. Really nice to drive and very comfy.

It’s just a later model of what I’ve already got,  to be honest but I love this colour combo of blue with magnolia interior. I don’t want another silver car but no decisions made yet. This or the green they do but too many have black interiors.

I can’t find any problems with the Skoda and cannot replicate what my colleague saw by way of blue smoke. Oil level still on max, going to ignore.

Interesting developments on the sale of my parents’ house. 6 viewing so far, 3 more tomorrow and 2 offers already. One of £340k but another today of £378k! Will see how viewing tomorrow go but looks like our expectations of a quick sale, might be fulfilled. Also, highest offer couple have already sold theirs🙂

We accepted an offer on our late parent’s house today. We had 11 viewings in the week it’s been on the market, so the agent told them all that written offers has to be with him by 12 noon today. Sold to a cash buyer for £405k!! We are over the moon and absolutely shocked.

Was changing front discs and pads on colleague’s recently acquired Fiesta this afternoon. Ex colleague was there so we could do one side each.

Front up on stands, wheels off, callipers off, discs off, to then find the new parts were wrong. FFS! Thanks ECP! Both discs and pads too big. Vehicle details correct on invoice, but part numbers on boxes didn’t match those on invoice. Let’s try again next week, fuckers.

That’s about normal for ECP!😄

Mrs W rang me this morning with another failure to proceed in the Yeti, same symptoms as last time🤔

Took one of my lads with me and tracked her down, just off the A33, again. It was pissing down so just transferred tools from the Superb to the Yeti and she carried on in the Superb whilst I limped hers back to work. It really wasn’t happy. One plus point of work being almost empty

Anyway, the problem was quickly found and was entirely my fault, sshh, don’t tell her. Number one HT lead never clicked home well when I changed the leads and I now know why.

A bit of the old one was still on the plug! 🫢

Couldn’t see it until I peered down at the plug recess with a torch today suspecting something was preventing connection.

Anyway, it’s all good now and she’s none the wiser. Bunged some petrol in too though, to keep her happy. Mum’s the word though lads, no one likes a grass😆

You need to cross my palm with silver to keep this information secret!😄

Good it was nice easy fix though.
I had a similar problem once with something stopping an HT lead fitting back on after servicing the car. Looking down the plug hole revealed a little lump of rubber around the plug.

It was that little rubber thing from inside the spark plug socket I’d put them in with! It’s meant to stop the plug falling out of the socket but on the last plug it had obviously pulled that out of the socket with the plug and I hadn’t noticed.

Last furniture resto is now on my other thread. I do have a plan, sadly it requires the Mk4 to go though. It may not pan out of course.

Your mk 4 GL is a beautiful car and looks great in the pictures. It would be a real shame to see it go but if it is going to be replaced by the Ghia S in the picture then I sort of understand. I believe this is the Zetec engined car built by Duffy with recaro’ seats and Granada wheels? First thing to do is put proper number plates on when you get it. Then can you take me for a drive in it please.

It is indeed that car and sadly sold when I contacted the dealer. Take it off your fucking website then! That does piss me off.

Agreed about the plates though and would loved to have taken you for a spin in it. Was pretty much the perfect Cortina for me but wasn’t to be. Still, I’ll crack on with the Mk4 for now.

Sister has now sold the conservatory table and chairs for £150 and Dad’s felling axe for £7😁 She’s on a roll.

Fiesta discs and pad replacement completed without further problems.

Oh, I sold the Evinrude outboard last week and sister has sold the hall stand this morning.

I think I’m heading back up on the 9th for the last time for a while, I hope.

Just totting up my “haul” from work closing down. I reckon I’m ok for car cleaning stuff for a while.

10 litres of wash&wax, 20 litres of 101APC, 20L  TFR, 15L screen wash and 10 L of Autosmart Ali shine.

Question now is, where do I put it all🤔
