New Shite...again!

I snatched this from the jaws of a HiAb, sweet eh? Just about to run out of tax and test and the off side has been swiped by a Lorry, I paid too much because it's sweet and I'm getting it back to mintish again, then probably moving it on but I was so surprised about how well it drives and how peppy the 1.7 OHC engine is!

Beautiful. Are you keeping it or moving it on? I could be tempted I must say.

I'm going to move it on when it's finished in the body shop, mainly because like most people I'm skint right now, the money I'm spending on it is coming out of my credit card, by the time it's finished it will stand me loads more than it's worth but I'll feel good about saving it!

superb....couldn't ask for a better colour.I can't believe how you keep uncovering these things...If you get offered something you don't have room for let me know!

Very noble sir - well done indeed. All for the love of shite!Did the chap on the XM forum buy your SEi by the way?

That is fantastically shite. Did you actually rescue it as it was being strapped onto a hiab?Cant believe people even consider scapping cars as tidy as that. Well done!

Great save! I’ve fond memories of these. My Dad had two Ital 1.7s (and a couple of Marinas).Reaching for the anorak I spy front headrests so that’s looking like HLS luxury you have there (either that or someone's upgraded an HL). Tinted glass and a rev counter Cor! 8)

Basically if I didn't have it it was off to the scrappy the following Monday, the guy had been advertising it for months and indeed it's still in CCW but it was local so fatally I had a look, it really is every bit as good as it looks and has 40k with history, yadda yadda yadda!

Great work!I recall my dad being issued with one of these as a courtesy car from the local garage when his FSO Polonez was in for repairs. I was impressed by it's turn of speed and lovely squashy seats. Probably less embarrassing than travelling by FSO Polonez too, even though the Ital was beige with a brown vinyl roof.

Very honourable of you. You clearly walk the talk! ACE!

Well done for saving this Torsten!I think you could be on to a profit, that banger racer's Ital (which looked a lot worse than yours) was up to £600 when he stopped the sale. Remember there's only 150 left etc etc etc.Beige with red/orange interior is the classic Ital colour combo.

Good work Torsten chap!An Ital is on the RW "list" for one day in the future, my dad's first new car was a 1.3L in Royal Blue with beige vinyl seats. FAN 52V where you now? (Recycled, most likely). Famous for bringing my brother back from hospital after he was born, so not a popular car with the 3yr old RW. We get on fine now mind, he's my first choice to drive backup machinery in tat collecting missions! No doubt the super-dirty 1.7 O-series (which struggled to pass emissions guidelines on CO when new IIRC) is the perfect carbon footprint antidote to yer Prius :D

I believe the Prius isn't all that environmentally friendly. I'm sure I read that the manufacture of their batteries causes severe environmental damage, and that's before you take their dreadful mpg into consideration.

The MPG on the Prius is actually staggeringly good! It's my company car!

O RLY? I've heard some right horror stories of as little as 25 to the gallon from Priii, and that if you were hoping to get economy you'd be disappointed. Certainly the official figures don't look that encouraging, not a patch on what one can extort from the naverage newish diesel.

I was astonished when in Cyprus last year1. How little shite there was (at least where we were) and2. How many Prii there were (dozens, all in white)

So sorry Torsten to be joining this party late, normally I'd consider it a bit rude, but this Ital is just so achingly desirable - see the sig.If it were me, I'd get an "I slow down for horses" sticker, and one from the Stroke Society, and trundle around in it, just as it is, holding people up everywhere I go. Heavenly.

It's around town that it excells and it's congestion free, I'll give you an example, I had to do a promo day for a band recently, picked them up from Gatwick, a day doing the rounds of radio and TV studios in London then at 5 o'clock a fast run up to Newcastle for a 10pm interview, I started the day with a full tank, I filled up again just outside Newcastle, £30, not bad I reckon!Regie, cheers for that, I tried the Maxis too but they weren't very responsive!

The way this has turned out I'm going to feel constant pressure now everytime I look in the classifieds to report every example of autoshite in distress that somebody might be able to take in like an unwanted labrador! (just think, one more week & squash! Infact, sorry, quickly erase that image!:cry: )
