We had a couple of inches of snow yesterday......the locals had stripped the shop bare.......there were big bits of the planet breaking off....I had to wade through a sea of corpses......

What is it with some people ?, a few of inches of Snow, and they strip the shops like they were setting in for a nuclear war.I live about 30 seconds walk from a fairly major Sainsbury's supermarket, and it looked like it had been Looted by a rioting mob about 2 hours after it first started snowing.

Jeez, that's well deep. Did you stock up on supplies?

Luckily, we only got about 8" of snow here!

Had a lovely walk yesterday in the snow with the dogs - no car content, sorry!

And how deep was it?

About 10 inches in places, 6 inches was about the minimum.

no more snow (but wating for it) but fuck its freezing

Pretty cold here as well, -13.5 last night but no snow. More predicted for the weekend though which means it will be GR2 for getting to work Monday. Roads aren't actually too bad now and traffics fairly quiet but theres plenty of people about who are terrified of driving what with the SNOW CHAOS and all.

Snowing again here in Leicester. And its cold.

Sunny now, but still UBER KALT. Also I just managed an epic snow fail. Thought I'd dig out the van for a run up to the DIY shop, guess which donkey switched the wipers on with the door open. Consequently 6in of loose snow off the windscreen was swept directly into the door pocket. Bollocks.

another fail : scirocco wiper stripped its thread (frozen to windscreen)

Well I got out today...almost lost the P100 to the dozy cow in the Suzuki 4x4 who didn't feel the need to get on to her side of the very narrow bit of road thats been cleared= P100 into the very large snow drifts that have been created by the snow plows...luckily the ole gal kept going and got herself back onto the cleared bit ....GET THE FUCK OFF the road you BASTARDS

Bloody hell. Respect for getting out in that! I wouldn't have got anywhere in my shite in that kind of snow. The cougar just slides about everywhere, the cortina is broken and the SD1 has tyres made of sausages. We've had more snow too, but nothing on that level.. just an covering on whats already here. Its been utterly baltic though, -9 when I was driving home about 10pm last night and still -4 at noon today. On the plus side though, when you remember at this time of year all we normally get are grey skies scraping your head and constant rain and darkness it doesnt seem to bad! Id rather have the snow any day.

That's another advantage the 104 has in the snow - the wipers are the "wrong" way round so they sweep everything towards the passenger side, so I can switch the wipers on when the driver's door is open with impunity. On a less positive note, the little Pug's fuel economy is turning out to be epically shit. 35mpg from a 954cc engine on the gentle run into work is not very good at all. I reckon it's running rich, but it's got one of those stupid "tamper-proof" carbs which only lets you adjust the idle, so it's going to be a bit of a pain to sort.

Tomorrow it is going to be -22, I stay indoors ...

I can't recall it being so cold for so long down here in the normally mild westcountry, for the last few days the daytime temperature has been at or below freezing. When the snow first came it was a bit of a novelty, but I'm fast becoming fed up with the sight of it!

The company hack Avensizzzz has coped well enough, but I nearly didn't make it out of Torrington in North Devon when the snow first hit on Tuesday morning as the roads in and aroung the town hadn't been gritted at all, and I'd parked the car in the main town carpark which is on a slope while I went into an appointment, It took me an hour to get out of town in the end, and mine seemed to be the only non all wheel drive vehicle moving on the roads.

Good old sat-nav got me in trouble on Thursday, it took me along a minor route to reach a destination near Sturminster Newton, Dorset. Said road was very snowy but I was copping well until a hill was encountered, I nearly reached the top and then lost traction, then started sliding back down the hill.....standing on the brake pedal didn't stop me, so I wrenched on the handbrake and the car slowly came to a halt, so there I was in a lane in the middle of nowhere foot planted firmly on the brake pedal, holding onto the handbrake lever wondering what to do next! After what seemed an eternity I gently let the brakes off and made it back down the hill, perhaps a bit more wiser. Took the pic below just before this episode.......

Another milk episode for me, all the shops have run out because of the OMG we're doomed attitude, I could do with some milk as I am about to run out so after trying several shops I find one with an old boy at the fridge, I see he has some milk in his basket and there is just one 500ml carton left and that is the last of the milk, he looks at me looking at the milk just about to go for it so he picks it up and puts it with the other four in his basket. Thanks you doddery old twat, I hope you fall over on ice and gently graze your knee.UHT for me then.

Just had to rescue 3 cars stuck at the bottom of the hill at the end of my road. All moderns with fat tyres, including my dads Skoda octavia, we towed em out used a mates mazda pickup with low range and snow tyres. Whilst doing this a little mk1 gold on original skinny steels cruises past and goes straight up the hill no probs  My 323 is awesome in the snow 4.5j wheels really help!

This video made me laugh, the little paddy he throws at the end is great!.

There seems to be a lot of them lately spring up on youtube, Some of the peoples driving skillz, or lack of them, amazes me, One clip of a Transit on the M20 passing a Laguna by slidding into it sideways is great.
