Crackers Posted May 4 Author Posted May 4 Spent a couple of hours giving the interior a clean and it's come up lovely. Really nice place to waft along - so comfy compared to the sporty saloons & estates I've been driving the the last few years. So, what next with this? I don't want to do much do it really, except, hopefully, enjoy living with it for a while. There are a few jobs to attend to, some important, some just me being a tart: 1) Restore the headlights 2) Replace the bonnet badge & wiper blades 3) Replace a few bits of interior & exterior trim - typical BMW sticky door handles, loose mounting clips etc 4) Replace a blown rear passenger door speaker. Might use this as a change to upgrade the whole system. 5) Properly clean it, and maybe even a polish. 6) I want to treat it to a set of the nice "Style 334" alloys that were optional in these, if I can find a cheap enough set. I missed a full set with tyres for £300 a couple of weeks ago... 🙄 7) Give it a "welcome" service and mechanical once-over - it doesn't need it really, but I didn't do it with the 330i and regretted it. Install a Mr12Volt Android Auto unit. Always fancied trying one. I'm not really sure why I've bought it, I've never wanted an X5, but this just seemed like an interesting way to try a type of car I've never owned - my first SUV/4x4. I've also really missed having a big diesel in my life, although the £1.90/litre price at the pumps has already reared it's head once today... 🤕 It's a handsome enough boat anyway, and wears it's 132k miles well! SiC Posted May 4 Posted May 4 I bought my Mr12Volt from a chap called Liam Biggs who runs this group: https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1E5uihpaLh/ Felt a bit sketch at first but paid through PayPal, etc. Much cheaper than elsewhere. Seems to provide a lot of support on that group too. First unit died within a day. He got a replacement out quickly. I think he's based down Portsmouth/Southampton way iirc. (I can't remember if you're down that way too) Crackers 1

Crackers Posted May 5 Author Posted May 5 Started fixing a few bits. Thirty Five Pounds for a BMW badge and that's with staff discount! It'd better bloody behave, getting treated like this! I don't want to admit it but I like this car a lot more than I thought... Dodgy windscreen trim repaired with new mounting clips (also genuine, get me!) although I noticed the paint on it isn't fantastic so I might get a replacement one. beko1987, S2000, Popsicle and 4 others 7
Crackers Posted May 7 Author Posted May 7 Headlights polished. What an arse of a job. The stuff gets EVERYWHERE. Came out a more swirly than I'd have liked, but I was trying to beat the sunset. The drivers side probably wants another pass with the 3000 grit to be honest, but it's a significant improvement. The last time I did this was on my Saab, which had quiet small and flat headlight lenses. This thing, the exact opposite. Took frigging AGES. Matty, Popsicle, Rust Collector and 2 others 5
