Just watching a Beeb man reporting from GROUND SUB-ZERO. Anyone from here had to abandon their chod-weapon at the side of the road, or indeed is anyone pulled up with a Thermos and checkered rug until the gritters turn up?

I didn't go out in it yesterday, although my wife managed to get home at around 2.30pm - just as it began to come down hard, on top of what had come down overnight on Thursday. The A339, which is a busy trucking route between Newbury and Basingstoke, had snow laying on it, which is not normal at all, and was shut sometime afterward. My brother-in-law abandoned his car at work in Basingstoke town centre and walked home. Meanwhile, my next-door neighbour told me today that it took him 5 and a half hours to get home from Farnborough - normally a 40min journey, tops. We've got about 5 inches here. I tried to move my 405 on the drive earlier and needed to dig it out first, then slid around sideways for a bit before giving up. If it freezes tonight - which it looks like doing - tomorrow's 7am run to M&S in Basingstoke will be fun, I'm sure...

Ah yes its been all over the news! The roads round here (Odiham) have been terrible to say the least, even the slightest incline was proving difficult for every vehicle attempting to pass. There was traffic jams from around 3-7 here, and this isnt even that busy a main road normally, with the bypass, M3 and A30 nearby.Apparently some people I know were stuck in Basingstoke for 8 hours trying to get back to Andover which isnt even that far away.Employees of the local Lloyds bank stayed the night in the bank here!Apparently there was a fair few accidents on the road to Alton, so I hear. Hopefully the buses will be running to Camberley tomorrow, as I need to be there to see the gf, otherwise its an hour and a bit train journey, which I dont want.
