As a typical tight as fuck mechanic in his 60s I'm pretty sure he'd be looking for something to rebuild his self. As he is literally as tight as a ducks arse. But go on. Is it for sale and how much?

He’s welcome to the head, if that’s all he needs, but I’d need a scrap head in exchange so I can keep my ornament in place. The block is full of cement 😆

there are slight differences between them. So I’m guessing these are genuine but made later on.

Definatly with. I'm a bit torn for over or under. Gun at my head it'd have to be under.

Above and less prone to damage there.

They'll be very early Mk2 Cav/Ascona C ones. Slightly different, but only noticeable to the GM geeks. 👍

Either below the bumper for the lights or none at all. I wouldn’t put them above.

If you want my opinion, leave it plain and original.

In my defence I was only 20 years old when I did this to my Vitesse!

Surely it depends on what the lights are? Driving/spot lights above, Fog lights below…. Personally I’d fit them above.

My vote is no bolt-on headlights, but to fit Manta 400 twin headlights!

I’ve never been a fan of the B series with twin headlights, on a GTE yes, but not this model.

Unsure what pattern these lights give, is there a way to tell?

think I’ll probably bolt them underneath as to not spoil the nose, and not put holes in the top of the chrome bumper.

Fog lamp lenses have this more “corrugated” effect inside the lens - spot lamps are smoother.

I think!

Today I did some hole filling.

the rear panel didn’t fit flush with the quarter. So I beat that into place and welded her up.

Zap zap

then I needed to fill this cheeky hole.

Right hand rear bumper mounting hole was weak and holed.

looks a mess doesn’t it.

IMG_4306.thumb.jpeg.c5c728709691c689ec181ea9cb2f9bbe.jpeg

used a large washer on the back and a nut n bolt to hold it in place.

and cleaned up

This was a tricky one. How has it got a hole here? Impossible, but true.

IMG_4310.thumb.jpeg.19acd889355248431673d44ab396d81c.jpeg

Conveniently I found a price of steel under my tool box that was the perfect shape.

IMG_4311.thumb.jpeg.9ca625f02445c34746d6d06cb5ee2a31.jpeg

and it was zap zapped into place.

just needs fine tuning now with some decent files. But I’m definitely no bodywork guy so it’ll have to do!

I'd say that looks perfectly fine.

Small skim of filler and it'll be bang on.

Loving this project so far. Do like the mismatched panels. Doesn't have to be perfect, just work.
