It was still there. The silencer after the cat and pipe looks okay.  I'll stick it in the van for tomorrow.

Recieved the split bax box from @gm today. This 90 year old man from a back street garage in Shields is welding it now for a tenner.

He's a gem! Buddy up.

I gave him an extra fiver because he ripped his finger open separating the exhaust. He didn't realise till I told him. There was blood everywhere.

Circus at Blaydon this morning.

35mpg from another tank. Consistant anyway.

Great pic!

Transmission noise has existed since the clutch was replaced, it’s something to do with the alignment of the transmission on the PPF, you can slacken the bolts to adjust alignment apparently. As it drives/shifts so nice I never bothered but as you’re putting so much TLC into it I’d be interested to see if you fix it. That gear change is sweet.

Cheers. I'll google how to do it.

Another track day tomorrow so I've decided to do a coolant fush and change as well as change all the shitty hose clips for proper jubilee clips.

1st hose I pull off.... fuck.

lucky that didn't blow when out on track if it was that weak, probably when I'm driving !

I've managed. The hose still fit. I'm just running it up to temerature now.

Is it the correct hose? It looks like the stuff I use for commercial washing machine waste, not sure if it's designed to take temp or pressure.

It had been formed to fit if you know what I mean. It was flat at both ends as well.

the fan has cut in half a dozen times now while I've cleaned up and tgebheater's nice and hot. I'm calling that a success.

It only took four and a half litres of coolant. I disconnected all the hoses and ran the hose through it for 15 minutes.

Google reckons 6 litres so there'll be a litre and a half of fresh water in there somewhere. I didn't dilute the antifreeze other than that. It should be safe for the trip to the arctic I have planned.

I'm going to join green flag tomorrow.@gm somehow managed to make it blow a hose the last time at the track. If we hadn't managed to bodge it in the pit (bodge still holding), I would have been snookered 40 miles from home, eight o'clock at night.

He's sandbagging. Don't make any bets with him in case it turns out to have a billet motor, 50lb of boost and nitrous.

Reckons it's standard.

This corsa's a proper sleeper vxr stage 1 running 280bhp with an open diff.

Not sure why he's blacked the number plates. Never raced or rallied?

That's not the dim-dip relay is it? I know the one I pulled on mine didn't look like that and looked more like a normal relay. I think I still have it in the garage come to think of it...

Posted

That's exactly what happened when I disconnected it. So if I pull that relay, it'll stop them popping up?

Posted

That's what I did to mine many years ago and kept the relay on the shelf. Still got it I think?!

Posted

makes sense, I'd thought the relay was part of the big metal box but I guess that is just the resistor bit. I've only had one uk mx5 but it was after they had given up on dim dip.
