Where's everyone getting their parts from right now?

Hi y'all.

Been trying to get a few bits for the Berlingo this last week but it's been a lot harder than I thought even with the current situation.

I've tried the eurocarparts one day delivery stuff but no joy there, looking at 9 days minimum!!!

I'm still currently working and I have a letter from my employer to confirm this "essential status" so I'm hoping to collect some parts tomorrow but I'm not 100% on it as their list is quite vague. Would they be likely to turn me away?

Online is weeks away, which maybe the best I'll get, I don't know but I'm just wondering what any fellow shiters are doing?

All basic stuff like a wheelbearing and a few bushes.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Cheers all and stay safe.

I'd did ecp last week, produce the letter and I. D and you'll have no bother. One in a shop at a time. They provide gloves and sanitizer. Worked well.

Extremely fortunate as most general engineering parts such as bearings etc can get through work. Uncle is a self employed mechanic and his factor is still delivering, so anything specifically automotive can be sourced through him. East lancs is still a relative backwater for Corona virus ( god willing)

Our local motor factor is still trading, but they've constructed a temporary counter over the main entrance....so you make your order while standing outside the store, noone gets to go inside.

I haven't bought anything from them, I've just observed from a socially acceptable distance while walking the dog...

I rang my local factor the other week to see if they had any special arrangements in place and they just said to head over, its dead quiet.  Got a couple of cans of paint to touch up a van and was assured I'd still be able to get bits for my heaps for the time being.

Apparently most of the normal trade has vanished but the Barrys of this world were still popping in to look at stick on chrome tat.

The haul I got over the week came from a mic of ebay or euro car parts.

ECP I chose the free mingebag delivery and it came 4 days later if that helps, looks to have been dropped off by the van though as it was just a bag with my stuff in,not couriered or etc

I have a Bini in the front garden.

It broke down last Sunday in Manchester  20200409_133448.thumb.jpg.5bb4469e07e38bc4e35505d6c7263e1f.jpg

My daughter had the RAC bring it to me and bought a KA yesterday. IMG-20200408-WA0001.thumb.jpg.0fe5b2d9aacc85aec47a54ec548a6beb.jpg

She and her mother wants me to scrap the Bini.

The RAC  man diagnosed Head Gasket failure, because there was steam coming out of the engine.  It's more likely to be a split hose, coolant bottle or thermostat housing.

I haven't looked.  I'm not being allowed. Because a) it's not essential, b) I might hurt myself and require hospital treatment. C) I won't be able to get parts.

Apparently.  This is what my wife said. And I believe her on at least one of those points.

If it were working and there was no c19 I would be be advertising it here for £700, and 2 people over 120 miles away have said they'd be interested.

I'd also like to keep it myself. I live driving it. I'd sell the mx5 and turn it into a future classic. But that's not allowed either.

Same with us in Swansea and Frome where I'm currently working, very low numbers. In fact personally and between those I work with we still don't know anyone who's had it but I imagine those who reside in "that London" know many sadly.

Only tried one local albeit online and they rebuffed straightaway saying about key worker status etc.

I'll see how I get on with ECP in an hour or so, sounds from above that I'll be ok ??

All good in ECP, not 100% on the correct parts yet but that's a gamble at the best of times!!!
