Still needs saving. Its also eligible for the "pikey scrappage scheme" where I take it down my local scrap metal dealer, he gives me 100 quid to spend on whatever I want, and he scraps the 21.

Sorry, that sounded a bit " give me 100 squid or the reno gets it" but it will have to go, one way or another pretty quickly.

I might even sell my car transporter too. (seperate to the reno, of course)

any interest in it yet?

any kind of 'following' for cars like this you could tap into?

Theres been a little interest, Ive decided to postpone any scrapping until Christmas. Im confident it can be found a caring home!

BUMP.... work/credit crunch issues now mean I could really do with the money!

Renault 21s. If only the Turbo Quadra was a bit less likely to implode I'd love one. Tetchy buggers from what I can gather...

Still here guys, feel free to save it!

Ive punted it around a fair bit and it looks like its not desirable or rare enough to warrant saving. I cant be bothered with e.bay so im going to break it and weigh it in.Nice leather interior! Low mileage 2 litre engine, the same type that goes in the Espace!Everything must go!

What way does the engine sit in this?Is it transverse or longitudally mounted? Thanks.

Posted

It's a 2 litre so it's longitudinal, as is the 2.1 Diesel. The 1.7 and 1.9 Diesel are transverse mounted and have the easiest underbonnet access of any front wheel drive car I have seen.In general if you see front fogs on a 21 it's probably a longitudinal engine, although I don't think this one has them.

MOAR PICS...

Pic of scabby arch, other side is similar.

Surely the leather trim is worth saving?

It's depressng that this thing has generated zero interest, it's fantastic.

It is very nice. If I had a big garage id cover it with a sheet and leave it a few years until I had the time/inclination to get it back on the road.

Very. It's just not one of them cars that arouses any passion or desire though is it. If I had somewhere to stick it for a few years I'd quite like that. But I haven't and that makes me a little sad.

Can I ask what it needs for MOT? I'm too lazy to go back to the first page to check whether it has any or what it needs. Thanks!

Due to lack of time/space/mojo im now attempting to off load this French beauty. It owes me 100 squid and its in Stoke on Trent. Delivery possible at cost.

Bought this metallic turd brown Renault recently from a work colleague. He had bought a newer car and was going to weigh it in unless I saved it, an all too typical scenario im sure youl agree...

Its a 2 litre 'Monaco' Model with beige/brown leather interior. Brown over brown. How 80's shite is that?! 70k from new, FRSH up to 53K, one owner from new until 2005, then my workmate.

Its in pretty good shape. From what I know it will need new rear brake shoes for its MOT but theres also the odd scabby bit that needs tidying, the rust on the rear arches inside the door shuts being the most ugly. Not an MOT point though. The interior is mint, and is a very comfortable place to sit and press butttons/make vrooming noises e.t.c

The drivers doorglass needs replacing thanks to vandals, ive tried a few breakers but Reno 21s are getting very thin on the ground, im told theres one being broken locally so fingers crossed. Another slight minus point is that I cant get it started! The starter/solenoid wont engage, I havent had time to investigate fully but the solenoid connection is nice and clean. Either way im pretty sure its a minor fault.

Its on the in laws drive at the moment- I cant seem to find the time or the money to do anything with it. First things first though, new window and get that starter fault fixed!

Still here, Still in one piece! Not for long though, NO MOANING when it gets crushed.

She's mine! :D Many thanks to Lankytim for dragging it all the way to the Flatlands and to Mr Bollox for the use of the A-frame. True autoshite heros. We used the A-frame to drag-start it into life and it was so smooth and quiet I couldn't really believe that it was running! It still doesn't start - not so much as a click, so any advice appreciated there. Like where relays may live...Feels like it's going to need a clutch before too long and it still needs a RH front window glass (anyone?) but I'm dead chuffed. The remote central locking even works! Plan is to get it into use as soon as I can and see how it compares with the BX...

Excellent news..............well done all of you :D

I have a full set of genuine Renault service manuals for the R21 if you need them. I think there's a little bit of new old stock for them at A.C. Williams too. Might even be a window, you never know.

Oooh, tell me more! Service manuals might well help with trying to diagnose the starting issue as it has far more wiring than I'm used to.

Here's all the set in no particular order. The ones with plain covers are seperate sections which go into binders together....

Excellent. Wiring diagrams would be very handy! If I could borrow them (and hopefully be quicker at returning them than I was the R16 stuff...) that'd be very handy indeed.
