Vauxhall Brochure 1977

Here are a selection of pictures from a 1977 Vauxhall Brochure.

It was during the transition period when the Luton designed cars were beginning to be phased out & the Opels nosejobbed by Wayne Cherry were becoming more common.

Added, in case there are any indecisive company directors out there.  Buy a Ventora.

These must be rare as the earlier ones were badged as victor 3300 estates & the Venturas  were withdrawn in 1976.

Forgot they were still making the Viva until 79. Obviously offered as a bit of a economy special for the fleets.

58 cu ft of Beethoven? That must have been a heavy session in the copywriting room.

'Available in Vauxhalls wider and brighter range of colours ....'

A phrase absent in their 2020 brochures...

Until I sold it on eBay, I had a 1976 Vauxhall/Opel brochure with a double page spread of a metallic purple VX 2300 with a cream coloured vinyl roof. Hells bells, it looked gorgeous.

Gauges aplenty in the higher spec Vivas and Magnums.

By contrast the basic vivas still had a ribbon Speedometer- it must have been one of the last cars to have on.

Wow - look at the variance of cars you could get.

Its shite now. Take PSA - you want a 7 seat LWB Combo? Sure - but only with the 1.2 Puretech - want the 1.5 Blue HDi130? Nah Only with a EAT box and not in high trim spec. Quite honestly you wonder what the fook they are playing at these days.

It’s a case of having 4 body shells & adjusting the engine sizes & trim levels.  Vauxhall were quite good at creating models by putting a larger engine in an existing monocoque & added a few more creature comforts.
