Some of these have been posted on RR in the past, admittedly they're not all autoshite, just motors of interest - I'll start with the oldest. These were all taken around Retford, Nottinghamshire.

EDIT ..I'm not sure where these pics went for a while but here's what was most likely in this first post:

That white Transit is fantastic..

You beat me to it!! How can it be legal? Maybe it isn't?
Posted

Primrose yellow Range Rover FTW. Is is meant to be that colour?

Posted

The eagle eyed among you may have spotted that the Transit and the red/orange Escort are parked in the same place - they're owned by the same guy, and were both taxed (and mobile) when the pics were taken...That Range Rover hasnt moved for as long as I can remember, 10+ years at a guess.Cheers.

Great selection. That 2CV thing is a bit unusual.

What's this thing??

Nope. That'll be the Bagheera's replacement. The Talbot Matra Murena.

Love the 1st pic, Mk3 Tina and Mk1 Granada, I would love these 2 on my drive !

Nice spots. Do you know anymore about that 2cv van? Has it been there long? Is it still there? etc, etc.

Owner seems like a cool bloke, I think back then he had an old XJ on his driveway. I think one of the Fords has gone now (the Cortina was on Ebay at one point) and has replaced it with an SD1.

Did I not send you a PM about this on Retro Rides about a year ago, when I posted the same pic? Apologies if it wasnt you, but somebody asked me the very same..Cheers, Greg.

Hi..I managed to find the thread on RR and you were right, it wasnt you who asked for more info! Apologies - it was another Citroen fan asking a similar question. As you can see from the above post, it's not been on the road for a while - but when I last saw it, it did seem in reasonable condition - In fact when i took the pic it looked more-a-less good enough to be on the road. We have a 2cv specialist nearby, so whether he has maintained it in the past I dont know? I will be going back to Retford in a couple of months if you are that interested?Apologies again for my post before, I know you are an RR'er and the question was so similar I had to ask!Cheers, Greg.

Apology accepted. Although it does make we wonder why i got such a hostile response & then to go and trawl up the post from RR just to confirm that it wasn't me, well....If you do go back & can find anything out, then i will ask around - it's quite a rare van, probably ex-Belgian post office.Cheers :)

Cheers, Greg.

Cant tell if you are being serious now - and not wanting to get into a war of words... but the above isnt exactly hostile. If it's still there when I go back I'll have a knock at the door anyway.

Now, sorry about that everyone. I'll be adding some more pics in the next week or so, but here's a couple just to add some brightness to the last few posts..

Not a 2cv unfortunately..

Spiffing! Looks to be in "well-used" condition... paint mismatch, wonky trim, inconsistent shutlines and to cap it all the rear corner appears to have been belted at some stage... or did Citroen send them out of the factory like that?

Ok, a little update some from Retford again which are old, and some from the last couple of months in London. Again not all shite but hopefully interesting to most

HNNNNG! Just look at the wierdy fuglyness of it! Check those doors! You'd be fucked if you parked it in anything other than a disabled bay! I want one. Hard.

Astonishing selection there!! Love the stack-light Merc and the P1800 Volvo, but biggest surprise is the Pacer!!

Posted

Thanks for the positive feedback, the Pacer was probably my fave and was a lucky spot. Spotted the chrome windscreen surround down a side street and decided to have a look - and my suspicions bared fruit.

This is my Mum's nextdoor neighbour's Dad's. He uses it as a tow car among other things and has been reliable apart from the windows falling down/out.. When I saw him pull up I was, as you expect, surprised and excited. I went outside and asked if I could have a look around..With regards to the doors, they have a weird double hinge type thing. I cant remember how it works but

Entry to the cabin is aided by the lack of the B-pillar and a totally new design of door which provides a wide enough opening for occupants to comfortably enter the rear or front seats without the door’s long 1.4m length creating an obstacle, such as in a tight parking bay or at the roadside by blocking the footpath

Posted

With reference to the Renault Avantime's doors; yes they have got a weird hinge arrangement on, but they are REALLY heavy!!

Superb selection there! Loving that Avantime, someday one shall be mine. I also have a strange Corrado / Scirocco urge at the moment as well...
