not an SUV fan but i've always like the crv, only driven a mk3 which was a very nice car

drove to the takeaway tonight, rear screen misted up so wacked on the demister

then i thought, why not open the window and see if the heated mirrors actually work

well......THEY ACTUALLY WORK!

i got far too excited about that

so there i was driving home with a big grim on my face about my heated mirrors

Today wasn't very succesful tbh

tried to remove the dent from the bonnet

as shown here, this is a before shot

of course, i used the glue gun kit again

So i spent about half an hour or so on this, i mean it did make a different, it's less noticeable now but it's not perfect, that's due to it's location and the relatively strong metal used

still, it's an improvement

Also been spending some more pennies

image.thumb.png.ceee62cf2e33b25031227176bb73498a.png

I replaced the mats when i had pretty much just got the car in june 2019......i spilled superglue on the rear mat and the drivers mat has a hole on it

they have lasted almost 30k so i can't complain

hopefully this will make the car look an awful lot nicer inside too

also needs a deep clean, due to my kindness and driving people around for 2 weeks it's full of dirt on the seats, cigarette ash everywhere......and they had just put an energy drinks can in the rear door pocket which made it all sticky and horrible

fair to say, i'm not very happy about it

Love the thread. Like the little details and love you put into it.

You certainly seem a lot more tolerant of people than me, running round after people and they treat your car like that! Words will have to be had I'm afraid.

Good to see the updates though.

A recommendation I would give is maybe try to find some rubber mats, at least for the front? They don't wear through like carpet ones and the OEM ones trend to be lipped so fewer stones etc end up ground into the carpet, especially on the drivers side.

My last few cars I've bought some second hand OEM rubber mats that pretty much sell for the same amount of money if you flog them separately when you're done.

My issue is i struggle to say no to people

and usually ends up in situations like this, i must have covered around 1,500 miles in the last week and a half just running around after people only to have my car be made into a total mess

the issue is it's quite difficult to find rubber mats

i don't mind buying a new set of mats every year or so

I found some old-fashioned rubber mats in the village motor factors. Ones with lots of cutting slots so you can trim them to size. Amazingly tough old rubber - the oily smelly kind - but they're still going strong after a year.

Yes i had considered those

part of me is absolutely desperate to get some genuine mats which say xsara picasso on them

another thought i've had recently is about the rubber boot liners, i've found a few genuine ones

I thought it looked extremely smart, as i say i do like them but i know they're extremely troublesome

I can see myself owning one some day

Before I was a born-again pauper, I had a new Mitsubishi L200 and I bought some plush aftermarket matts - they were about 1" thick. Lovely and great sound-deadening. Just can't remember where I bought them. Fleabay I think.

I was convinced to buy my old MK1 Picasso by my mechanic who said they were the most reliable. Interesting if the C4 is less reliable ☹️

I like the shape of the C4. What's the main issue with reliability? Or is it anything and everything....?

There seems to be a lot of electrical issues, especially with the wipers but i haven't seen any with failed ones for a while

the EGS gearbox is a nightmare and absolutely awful

and the usual 1.6 HDi injector and turbo issues

Hit a little milestone yesterday

less than 6 months after hitting 100k

quite impessed at how well it's continuing to do

Cars are best when used regularly 👍. And yours is one of the most pampered. Just shows that these old kippers are good workhouses if you don't skimp on basic maintenance. The 2.0 HDI was always bombproof.

Have a slight issue with an incosistant idle just after a cold start i'm keeping an eye on but otherwise is doing extremely well considering

Mine had a random idle speed. (Felt like an invisible foot on the accelerator).

Turned out to be the idle control valve. Got one from RTG Automotive on eBay - all solved and cheap too!

i'm just going to let mine develop, it's easy to fix by just dabbing the throttle so it can't be too serious

That looks good. Where did you get it, and do they do other vehicles?

Just caught up with the last couple of months of updates. Some good work going on as ever. Had Londons Burning flashbacks with the tale of rescuing the Picasso from the car park fuego, good job

What's this boot trolley you Citroen fetishists are talking about, got any pics?

Was well worth saving, as i say it's proved itself to be a very very good car

the keyring is from a facebook company, forgot what they are called but i'll find it for you

and the trolley is this, it's excellent

The trolley appears to collapse down. Does it secure somewhere in the rear load area?

Looks a useful thing to have though, thanks for the pic

it does indeed, it attaches to the right hand side of the boot where the felt strap is

it's a very useful thing to have, i've actually got a couple of them
