Call me a saddo (many do) but it's really nice to see all those Escorts - 4's and 5's - in bog standard everyday condition. The Mk4 Ghia has possibly a little too much Halfords Tat applied, the early Mk5 is a real treasure as I'm sure not many survive like that. Was J plate the first of those or did a few H's scrape through? The early Mk5s seems to rust far more than the last of the 4s, there's plenty of work-dodgers around here in tatty mid-90s Mk5s barely scraping MoTs through bodywork issues.

Spot on 155! Have you ever seen that white Astramax around Fleet/Camberley area? I keep seeing it but I never get the chance to get a picture/

Haven't noticed that one,but someone at the end of my road has got two 205 vans :o
Posted

Ah, I think you misread the plate on the cortina as a OUY, its actually OUV.On SORN :)

Yay! I don't know exactly how numberplates are divvied up, but it's a strange coincidence that OUY was also a blue Ford.Seeing a lot more shite in Basingstoke these days - there was a beautiful red Triumph Toldeo on the Crockford Lane roundabout a couple of weeks ago. I think there's a member of the owners' club in Basingstoke so it could've been him.
Posted

Toledo? Havent seen that before, perhaps I should search the more well off areas of B'stoke soon.

Anyway, heres the latest, a mix of the southwest and Basingstoke/Sandhurst Tescos(Which is the best car park for tat, any time of day gurantees something)

Posted Image

Tidyish Onion in Basingstoke, dont really see these as much as their Escort cousins anymore. A nice MKI Orion passed me in Honiton the other day, which was nice.

Posted Image

These have to be shite now, its good to see them still about. Estate and Saloon ones seem fairly balanced in numbers.

Posted Image

I cant imagine the owner got much shopping into this, was really quite a clean one. I do like the 924.

Posted Image

Havent ever seen one of these around here. Sure its pretty new, but its shite. Its a Mercury Grand Marquis.

Posted Image

Usually the M+S side of the Meadows offers very little in shite, but this was there when I visited last. They do seem to survive really quite well.

Posted Image

Still very common, but lets face it, so were most of the cars we like. And it was clean enough for a picture.

Posted Image

A nice old 5 series. Oh BMW, where did you go wrong? You used to design such beautys.

Posted Image

A very tidy Nexia, wonder how many owners knew these were just basically old Astras.

Posted Image

Im seeing alot more Novas lately. This one wasnt so clean, but still on the road.

Posted Image

Very nice BX. Its a shame these have got alot less common round here. Ive only seen 4 in the past 6 months!

Posted Image

Alloy'd Popular MKII. A nice thing to see on the 303!

Posted Image

Metro spotted in Cullompton Tesco. Looked alright, a few dents here and there. Not too sure about the colour. Did it originally have black arches?

Posted Image

Lovely SERCK MKI. There was also a MKI XR2 under half a cover nearby, impossible to photo though.

Posted Image

Leyland EA! Sorry about the poor shot, but it was this or nothing. Off the road since 1987. This is in a yard near Gillingham which looked like it was full of shite, but they dont let you in because of H+S. Lame.

Posted Image

Remember that thread I started a while back for cars that got away? Well I finally got this one, and its a beauty. 99% Mint and proper OAP owner. A real middle finger to the scrappage scheme.

Going to F'Borough tomorrow, might see some interesting tat.....

Posted

Good work Brammy, I'm sure that Metro shouldn't have black arches, I bet they have been fitted to hide the rotten wheel arches under them.

Posted

That Metro had 3 replacement arches then! Saw an alright amount in Farnborough today, shame I dont really know my way round....

Posted

Is that EA an ex-Royal Mail one? If so it rates almost as highly as a Roadline spot! That Accord is really nice.

I am 99% sure it is, take a look at this photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ragtag04/2240222020/Identical to that one! That Accord was covered in stickers, all the rear windows had a full row.
Posted

Ive seen so much lately its ridiculous. Mucho stalking around Farnborough/Basingstoke has led to some nice finds, some of these areas have been rather rough but now they are out of the way.

Posted Image

Ive seen alot of Novas lately, all rather clean like this one. I saw another one later the same day I saw this.

Posted Image

Nice Maestro, its fairly typical to only see the non Austin ones round here. They have seriously out survived the Montego.

Posted Image

The Leyland Daf vans have just vanished. This one isnt so tidy, but still taxed.

Posted Image

Nice Capri. Shared the driveway with a race prepared MKII Escort, but that was obscured by the beemer.

Posted Image

The boot may say Cosworth, but the records say 1.6 L. Oh dear!

Posted Image

Nice base Fiesta! I do agree with those who have said the MKI appears to be more common than the MKII now, Ive seen way more of the former lately.

Posted Image

Not taxed since 1997. Shame really, they are really sleek cars. Doesnt look too bad for the amount of time its not been used, but I cant see this moving without alot of work.

Posted Image

Mouldy 309 with an open drivers door was a sad sight, you just dont see the phase ones at all anymore.

More to come.........

Posted

Posted Image

Well used 100 is a pretty regular sight in the Village I live in, Im sure the owner also had a Maestro Van but it was on a scrap van a few weeks ago sadly.

Posted Image

Earlyish Granny was a suprise sight in B'stoke. Havent seen it before. Looked alright, the area it was in is so rough!

Posted Image

R.Welfare may have seen this, its near Tadley. I had no idea what it was from a distance. Its a Ford Laser to those wondering :)

Posted Image

The first MKIII Escort I have managed to see. Looked really nice, and the wheels did suit it.

Posted Image

Clean Scirocco was a sad sight in Aldermaston breakers. Possible scrappage victim but Im not too sure....

Posted Image

This wasnt a nice sight, I love these. Looked really quite tidy as well, shame.

Posted Image

I havent seen a phase one AX in ages. This was weird, the buildings behind are old Car dealerships, and some of the cars there were untaxed. But this one was, so my theory of it being a scrappage dumping ground are thankfully untrue.

Posted Image

Another F plate MKIII Fiesta. I know these arent popular round here, but I like it. Gold suits these in a weird sort of way. Definitely OAP owned, like everything interesting I see in this car park.

More to come....

Posted

Posted Image

Seriously clean Sierra. These Azura special edition ones look so good in this colour.

Posted Image

Another Sierra. Again, some of you may have seen this one as its right by a main road.

Posted Image

Nice and smart Metro was in a driveway with 3 other cars, which included an Alfa of equal age.

Posted Image

Ive seen this one before, and I think some of you know the story behind it.

Posted Image

Doesnt look too bad from this distance, but the DVLA says untaxed since 1996. That shocked me, I didnt think it would be that long.

Posted Image

Nice pair on a driveway! Bet the Neighbours hate the owner.

Posted Image

Early N13 which is still in daily use. Another car which suits gold. Or beige, whatever.

Posted Image

Ive never seen this one before, seems to be a rather large amount of yank cars in Basingstoke. It was massive.

Posted Image

Reshot of the Cortina. A daily driver, but Ive never seen it moving. Oh it turns out this isnt from Popley, but somewhere else.

Posted Image

Makes up for the N12 that was scrappaged last year. I have never tried a moving shot before so I hope this is okay.

Posted Image

A rather nice Limo seen near my college. Still taxed as well, bet its such a comfortable old thing.

Posted Image

Im a big fan of these. Bizzarely, Ive seen another 4 of these around Basingstoke in the past 2 weeks. But sadly, that mouldy MKI has now gone.

Posted Image

Nice to see a normal Robin. And a pretty old one now.

And finally, my favourite spot this month was one some of you may have seen on RR. Id never actually seen it before yesterday, so it was good to get a shot too.

Posted Image

Shame about the plate, but oh well, Its lovely enough for me to forgive.

Posted

Looks like you've been busy on the ex-MOD housing estate near Aldermaston!I haven't seen that Laser for ages, good spot. The Firebird and Camaro duo never knowingly move. And finally, I agree that the Mk3 Escort looks good on those wide Rostyles. I seem to recall there's some pretty nasty damage on the o/s rear quarter, may well have been fixed as I haven't seen it recently.Which Aldermaston breakers did you go to - Padworth?

Posted

Nice spots....the MK3 Escort looks hot on those Rostyles...one of the sexiest wheels ever made IMO....especially when viewed at that angle :)

Posted

~Rostyles DO look funky. Not very 'period' though, i.e. if you'd have rolled those in 1995 on a £300 escort you'd have got excommunicated. XR3i rims for players, RST doglegs for the pro's, cloverleafs for the pikeys. PHACT.

Shame about the plate, but oh well, Its lovely enough for me to forgive.

What is it?
Posted

I think its a Mazda 1000, thats what cartell says anyway! But its not something Ive seen before.

And R.Welfare, its Padworth. Some pretty interesting stuff in there yard at the moment, quite friendly owner. I think they are taking in alot of the Scrappage stuff.

Posted Image

Oh and just checked the DVLA, ^ is definitely scrapped now, damn shame.

Posted

Posted Image

A rather nice Limo seen near my college. Still taxed as well, bet its such a comfortable old thing.

Posted Image

Nice to see a normal Robin. And a pretty old one now.

Can't remember the road name, but it's off the roundabout near TRU,Halfords etc.As for the Limo,I can hear the Oval calling from here :(
Posted

This is the Mazda 1000 Motor tested in 1974:

Posted Image

Judging by some of the other pics, Mazda was struggling to copy European tastes at that time! :D

  • 3 weeks later...
Posted

Heres the highlights from the past few weeks, Ive seen more but Ill leave them for the time being.....

Posted Image

Freight Rover bizzarely badged as an LDV. Hasnt someone else seen one with a later grille add on?

Posted Image

Completely unexpected super spot in Basingstoke, seems like a driver of a Ford Fusion got so distracted by this they crashed into a wall at the bottom of this car park.

Posted Image

I should have posted this in the relevant thread, sorry. For sale sign has now gone, apparently this dealer isnt too trustworthy.

Posted Image

Nice and mouldy LR. In the middle of a rich estate, bet this makes the neighbours happy.

Posted Image

Local E28, a daily runner. Probably the most interesting of all the cars I see everyday.

Posted Image

Woah, I didnt even know what this was when I saw it. Looks bloody lovely. Alot of people took pictures of this.

Posted Image

Somebody likes their Scorpios......

Posted Image

Taking photos in a Mcdonalds drive-thru car park is not easy, this version of the 626 isnt that rare, but pretty uncommon round here.

Posted Image

I keep seeing different Capris around Basingstoke at the moment, this one was sharing space with a Cosworth Sierra last week, sadly the sun didnt want me to get a shot!

Posted Image

Well used Metro was a nice sight in Basingstoke, after that Brooklands show I seemed to see quite a few.

More to come......

Posted

That Land Rover looks fierce. Tyres look maybe a touch past their best. Taxed worse (really, I have)

Posted

Posted Image

The recent sunny weather made alot of gems come out of hiding round here, sadly thats ended for the time being.

Posted Image

I dont normally take photos of XJ40s, but this one was (possibly) a TWR one and it just looked nice. Terrible condition however.

Posted Image

This was also fairly shabby. I bet the butcher gets confused as to why he always sees me come outside, take a peek at a car and return back isnide.

Posted Image

I had no idea this was here, this area of Basingstoke is excellent for tat!

Posted Image

I see this Bluebird pretty much all the time, its condition is getting worse all the time sadly.

Posted Image

Seriously mouldy Nova was (presumably) owned by the same people who have the Stanza, looked slightly better....

Posted Image

A much better shot of this one! I dont think it ever moves.

Posted Image

Another one let out in the Sun. Predictably, it has now gone back into dry store, waiting for the next batch of warm weather. Thatll be late April, then....

Posted Image

Stupidly rare for their age now. Looked to be pretty clean, bar a few scrapes.

More to come....

Posted

Posted Image

This was rather close to the other dumped Nova, I dont think the people of Fleet like them.

Posted Image

As found on Streetview, what a gem! Probably one of the best bits of shite in Basingstoke.

Posted Image

Neat P100. Still a few around here, sadly they all seem to be moving when I do see them.

Posted Image

This is the B11 I first saw a fair few miles from my college, it was pretty weird seeing it, to say the least. Note the Sun which eliminated aforementioned Sierra pic.

Posted Image

I didnt know of this one before I took the picture, looks really well kept.

Posted Image

I think this could be the only 21 in Basingstoke. Theres possibly an Estate, but thats it. So rare now.

Posted Image

18 years off the road! Someone should really make a tally of all the Scimitars which have spent time as an ornament.

Posted Image

Another pair from Stanza household, probably the roughest E30 i have seen.

Posted Image

Unloved XR3, I seem to see MKIVs in waves, currently Ive seen more than ever....

Posted Image

Gorgeous Granada. Im confused, shouldnt the highest spec one be a Scorpio?

Posted Image

I think every town has at least one CF camper hiding somewhere, finally found Basingstokes.

Posted Image

Forlorn looking RS turbo, I really hate those numberplates!

Thats all for now, but there is alot more to come soon.

Posted

Cracking spots....that Nova GTE looks quite straight....

Posted

You've been busy! I really miss having stuff to spot, i may have to try a few of the nearby towns for my fix.

Posted

great pics spa :D i'll take the metro & the nova gsi
