Call me a saddo (many do) but it's really nice to see all those Escorts - 4's and 5's - in bog standard everyday condition. The Mk4 Ghia has possibly a little too much Halfords Tat applied, the early Mk5 is a real treasure as I'm sure not many survive like that. Was J plate the first of those or did a few H's scrape through?The early Mk5s seems to rust far more than the last of the 4s, there's plenty of work-dodgers around here in tatty mid-90s Mk5s barely scraping MoTs through bodywork issues.

I don't know exactly how numberplates are divvied up, but it's a strange coincidence that OUY was also a blue Ford.Seeing a lot more shite in Basingstoke these days - there was a beautiful red Triumph Toldeo on the Crockford Lane roundabout a couple of weeks ago. I think there's a member of the owners' club in Basingstoke so it could've been him.

Anyway, heres the latest, a mix of the southwest and Basingstoke/Sandhurst Tescos(Which is the best car park for tat, any time of day gurantees something)

Tidyish Onion in Basingstoke, dont really see these as much as their Escort cousins anymore. A nice MKI Orion passed me in Honiton the other day, which was nice.

These have to be shite now, its good to see them still about. Estate and Saloon ones seem fairly balanced in numbers.

I cant imagine the owner got much shopping into this, was really quite a clean one. I do like the 924.

Havent ever seen one of these around here. Sure its pretty new, but its shite. Its a Mercury Grand Marquis.

Usually the M+S side of the Meadows offers very little in shite, but this was there when I visited last. They do seem to survive really quite well.

Still very common, but lets face it, so were most of the cars we like. And it was clean enough for a picture.

A nice old 5 series. Oh BMW, where did you go wrong? You used to design such beautys.

A very tidy Nexia, wonder how many owners knew these were just basically old Astras.

Im seeing alot more Novas lately. This one wasnt so clean, but still on the road.

Metro spotted in Cullompton Tesco. Looked alright, a few dents here and there. Not too sure about the colour. Did it originally have black arches?

Lovely SERCK MKI. There was also a MKI XR2 under half a cover nearby, impossible to photo though.

Leyland EA! Sorry about the poor shot, but it was this or nothing. Off the road since 1987. This is in a yard near Gillingham which looked like it was full of shite, but they dont let you in because of H+S. Lame.

Remember that thread I started a while back for cars that got away? Well I finally got this one, and its a beauty. 99% Mint and proper OAP owner. A real middle finger to the scrappage scheme.

Going to F'Borough tomorrow, might see some interesting tat.....

Ive seen so much lately its ridiculous. Mucho stalking around Farnborough/Basingstoke has led to some nice finds, some of these areas have been rather rough but now they are out of the way.

 

Ive seen alot of Novas lately, all rather clean like this one. I saw another one later the same day I saw this.

Nice Maestro, its fairly typical to only see the non Austin ones round here. They have seriously out survived the Montego.

The Leyland Daf vans have just vanished. This one isnt so tidy, but still taxed.

Nice Capri. Shared the driveway with a race prepared MKII Escort, but that was obscured by the beemer.

The boot may say Cosworth, but the records say 1.6 L. Oh dear!

Nice base Fiesta! I do agree with those who have said the MKI appears to be more common than the MKII now, Ive seen way more of the former lately.

Not taxed since 1997. Shame really, they are really sleek cars. Doesnt look too bad for the amount of time its not been used, but I cant see this moving without alot of work.

Mouldy 309 with an open drivers door was a sad sight, you just dont see the phase ones at all anymore.

Well used 100 is a pretty regular sight in the Village I live in, Im sure the owner also had a Maestro Van but it was on a scrap van a few weeks ago sadly.

Earlyish Granny was a suprise sight in B'stoke. Havent seen it before. Looked alright, the area it was in is so rough!

R.Welfare may have seen this, its near Tadley. I had no idea what it was from a distance. Its a Ford Laser to those wondering

The first MKIII Escort I have managed to see. Looked really nice, and the wheels did suit it.

Clean Scirocco was a sad sight in Aldermaston breakers. Possible scrappage victim but Im not too sure....

This wasnt a nice sight, I love these. Looked really quite tidy as well, shame.

I havent seen a phase one AX in ages. This was weird, the buildings behind are old Car dealerships, and some of the cars there were untaxed. But this one was, so my theory of it being a scrappage dumping ground are thankfully untrue.

Another F plate MKIII Fiesta. I know these arent popular round here, but I like it. Gold suits these in a weird sort of way. Definitely OAP owned, like everything interesting I see in this car park.

Nice and smart Metro was in a driveway with 3 other cars, which included an Alfa of equal age.

Doesnt look too bad from this distance, but the DVLA says untaxed since 1996. That shocked me, I didnt think it would be that long.

Ive never seen this one before, seems to be a rather large amount of yank cars in Basingstoke. It was massive.

Makes up for the N12 that was scrappaged last year. I have never tried a moving shot before so I hope this is okay.

And finally, my favourite spot this month was one some of you may have seen on RR. Id never actually seen it before yesterday, so it was good to get a shot too.

Looks like you've been busy on the ex-MOD housing estate near Aldermaston!I haven't seen that Laser for ages, good spot. The Firebird and Camaro duo never knowingly move. And finally, I agree that the Mk3 Escort looks good on those wide Rostyles. I seem to recall there's some pretty nasty damage on the o/s rear quarter, may well have been fixed as I haven't seen it recently.Which Aldermaston breakers did you go to - Padworth?

Taking photos in a Mcdonalds drive-thru car park is not easy, this version of the 626 isnt that rare, but pretty uncommon round here.

I keep seeing different Capris around Basingstoke at the moment, this one was sharing space with a Cosworth Sierra last week, sadly the sun didnt want me to get a shot!

Well used Metro was a nice sight in Basingstoke, after that Brooklands show I seemed to see quite a few.

The recent sunny weather made alot of gems come out of hiding round here, sadly thats ended for the time being.

I dont normally take photos of XJ40s, but this one was (possibly) a TWR one and it just looked nice. Terrible condition however.

This was also fairly shabby. I bet the butcher gets confused as to why he always sees me come outside, take a peek at a car and return back isnide.

I had no idea this was here, this area of Basingstoke is excellent for tat!

I see this Bluebird pretty much all the time, its condition is getting worse all the time sadly.

Seriously mouldy Nova was (presumably) owned by the same people who have the Stanza, looked slightly better....

Another one let out in the Sun. Predictably, it has now gone back into dry store, waiting for the next batch of warm weather. Thatll be late April, then....

As found on Streetview, what a gem! Probably one of the best bits of shite in Basingstoke.

Neat P100. Still a few around here, sadly they all seem to be moving when I do see them.

This is the B11 I first saw a fair few miles from my college, it was pretty weird seeing it, to say the least. Note the Sun which eliminated aforementioned Sierra pic.

I didnt know of this one before I took the picture, looks really well kept.

I think this could be the only 21 in Basingstoke. Theres possibly an Estate, but thats it. So rare now.

18 years off the road! Someone should really make a tally of all the Scimitars which have spent time as an ornament.
