HEY, hows it going shiters. I have not been on here much as I have been on holiday for the last 5 weeks! Now thats what I call a holiday Where did I go?

France of course, to the bollox museum:

....where some living quarters were being installed, making it a working holiday rather than a chilling out checking out the honeys in the sunshine type of holiday. Still some time for a few spots though.

Transport was the 'national treasure' P100 truck which went backwards and forwards to france 3 times in 6 weeks, clocking up over 5500 miles, half of that heavily loaded with shite and on one of the trips, towing the Pony on the A frame! Fair play to the old 1800TD donk which did everything asked of it without filling its sump with diesel once. Here it is looking spectacularly pikey:

Now then on with the spots.

Posted Image

I tried to take a touristy shot of the square in town when this early rover 213 sneaked in, RUINING the shot! ZUT ALORS!

Posted Image

nice original Visa, really fancy one of these, the earlier one though with the funny grille and control pod things beside the steering wheel, and a 2-cyl engine ideally.

Posted Image

This 205 is unremarkable except for the enormous block of Neapolitan ice cream it was parked in front of. While I was snapping it some guy wound his window down to ask 'WHY ARE YOU TAKING A PHOTO OF THAT? ITS UGLY MAN! PROPER UGLY!' Loony.

Posted Image

This photo is also of little interest except for the bollard in the bottom right, which was tarmaced into the ground till I backed into it and knocked it over. The council repaired it within a week though :)

Posted Image

This civic was well tidy, belonged to a very young lad who must have just got it off his granny or something, auto gearbox too.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Dont even know what this is, but it was suitably crusty to warrant inclusion.

Posted Image

Posted Image

This amazing disused nappy factory is just round the corner from the museum, i would LOVE to get inside here for a ratch about. Sadly its pretty well secured. Been shut for about 25 years apparently, its a class building.

Posted Image

One for fred - this transit is still in daily use by a farrier! Its got a bullnose front on it and is in a proper 1980's condition, scruffy but not obviously a deathtrap.

Posted Image

This early scirocco belonged to a young lad who was well into his VW's, he had fully restored it and fitted the Corrado wheels which IMO look great.

This was spot of the holiday for me. Ms_Bol had reserved a day to go to an 'international quilting and patchwork convention' very near the german border, which I was not at all happy about going to, but I did my duty and came along trying to look interested. In the car park was this locall-registered Mk2 Ascona, with 65000km (39000 miles) on the clock, original reg plates and dealer sticker and seemingly minty fresh! WHAT A HONEY!

Posted Image

CHECK THOSE ARCHES!!!!

Posted Image

This had come from Switzerland to check out the quilts and patchwork, i though Hirst may like the trimz on it.

Thise things are a right load of shite, C15 lengthened by 'Gruau' I believe who do all sorts of vehicle conversions, fridge vans, lord knows what. No mechanical changes, they just add a load to the rear overhang. I imagine they must have got through a lot of spot weld drills when making 'em. The load floor in theis one was rotten as hell and you could see all the mig welds and plates stitched in from when it was built, looked like something i'd make using vice, hammers and tinsnips. Shite!

Posted Image

This haunted house was unbelieveable, never seen owt like it. The house was in decent nick, not obv derelict, but the place was totally overgrown and proper eerie-looking.

Posted Image

Posted Image

WHAT! This guy needs some serious help.

This stunning simca van was advertising a restaurant less than a mile from the dunkerque ferry. It had some serious rust problems but was still MOT'd and insured. Ms_Bol thought it was a new low in photo subject matter, however I think its wonderful and would like to buy it.

Posted

Great photos Mr. Bol', the derelict mansion looks very special indeed. I'd be in there like a shot. The derelict truck is a Simca Marmon with a Ford flathead V8. Great for advancing global warming and all that.

Posted

Kwal! Cheers for sharing.Nearly had a small trouser accident looking at the Ascona. That is proper shitespec-tastic, top find.

Posted

Nice work. What else do you have in the bo11ox shite museum? Haz you photos?

Posted

Quality photos as always....house/nappy place look like great explores.Your museum motors - would it be worth covering them over with that clear sheet you can buy in wilkos for protecting your furniture when decorating? Save all that dust and pigeon shit? Or is it a bad idea as it might trap condensation etc?

Posted

love that Mk2 Rocco may inspire me to actually do something with mine...old nappy factorys and chateau's, i'd of been well up for exploring then  i'm on holiday in the south of france in a week for a week  great pics bol 8)

Those Visas are well fugly, yet desirable....Great pics Mr B. :D

What is the yellow car Mr_Botox?

Posted Image

Datsun?, It's on French plates but is right hand drive, What the story with it?.

Posted

Nice work Mr B! Must have cost you a fair whack. Are you back in the UK now then?

Posted

Yes! And I have used up all my 2009 holiday plus am totally skint as hell so am outta the car buying market for a while! how depressing. At least I have a house now though and not just a big warehouse full of shite 600 miles away.RG, you are right that some poly sheet would be a great idea for this long-term storage carry-on, I meant to get some sorted but never found the time. In the meantime I have chicken-wired up all the places where birds can get in so no more bird shite should be forthcoming.Exhibits in the museum are: 1982 Fiat Argenta, 1976 Toyota Carina, 1975 Maz 929 coupe, 1985 Maz 929 estate, 1974 Lancia Beta Berlina, 1988 Subaru 1800 GLse Wagon, 1985 Hyundai Pony, and 1993 Pug 205 diesel (ex-grandad_Bo11ox)

This thread is useless without pics!I challenge that you do not have a Mazda 929 Estate.....
Posted

I'm struggling for pics of the 929 wagon as all the ones I had were in my imagecave account, which went down the toilet. here it is in the bottom left:

That is really good. Sorry I doubted you ;)I prefer it in two-tone though.

Posted

Yeah the 2-tone suits the cheesy styling doesnt it. There was a smart 2-tone one sold on ebay about 3 weeks ago for only about £160, it looked a great buy.

Posted

Top work Mr B.. Is there a story about how the Bollox museum came about, and now that there is a dwelling there, do you plan to move to France?

Posted

Well this thread definately makes up for all the time you werent able to post!So is the musuem going to get more exhibits in the future?

Posted

Bières flambées? What the fuque? Excellent thread & spots, I've missed you (just a bit).

Posted

Are you moving to France? Not trying to go Off Topic, but how difficult is this practice? I'm sick of lack of constant work and dealing with Daily Mail-esque (but true) 'Country gone down the pan'isms.

Posted

Great pics, I didnt know you had a wee place in France where you had some qual motors stashed. Excellent Simca van, I havent seen one of these in the UK since about 1990 or something.
