Ditch the lady James! She's clearly got taste issues...He bought this at Anglia Car Auctions, when they were filming for the classics in Mallorca. It is very nice.

I'll be able to tell you when I get back to the office, as we did results for the sale, unless they're online somewhere.

Go on then, who's checked out James May's feedback? :)Appears to be just like on telly.... buys Triang stuff, there's sellers like retro-consoles and motoring stuff too :)

I did. The Tri-ang stuff made me giggle somewhat.Almost enough to bid on the ol' brown turd, but I've already got the P6 and that's my brown quota for this year.

No i thought the same, surely he bought the 2000 before the Ami as it was the last lot(i think)but why didn,t he do the rally in the 2000?Auto,BROWN,to juicy not to trendy?

I think it is a little cynical. I saw James off-camera run up to the Triumph and look genuinely interested in it. Once bought, it was parked up to once side well away from filming and collected later. The Ami was actually only the last car of the first half of the sale, and there was some shuffling to get it in at the end, so they'd clearly already decided that he was having it, and just wanted to make it look like he had no choice. As it happens though, the 2CVGB Ami Registrar told me it was a £1500 Ami - and that's exactly what James paid! (well, unless he got clobbered for the usual 5% commission).

You do know Top Gear is entertainment, and not a documentary, right? :) I think everyone just assumes they do various little fiddles, tricks and outright lies to keep it amusing."This week, we drive across America and don't upset anyone".
