Decisions, decisions.

Why is it you spend ages looking for the perfect new daily and then 2 come along at once????

Made an offer on another Legacy last night, which I will skint myself to afford and would be buying blind when a cheap AND local (ish) Forester appears while I was waiting for an answer on the Legacy.

So now I dunno which one to buy ? Stick with what I know and love but is becoming a bit small for camping duties, or go sideways and try something bigger but slower and would need work to make it handle the way I wanted. Forester is also half the price or I doubt I'd be interested.

How does one make such tough car choices????

A forester is surely smaller than a legacy?

Mine might be up for sale soon too, though I probably want too much for it.

Forget them both and look for an import Turbo Forrester?

That may be the potential end game, or a UK 2.5 XT but I can't afford a decent example of either atm and I don't want to commit myself to saving for one, until I'm sure I can live with a Forester. Import Legacies are getting surprisingly cheap for a twin scroll so I'd go for one of those if the Forester wasn't what I wanted.

roll the dice and go volvo ALL ROAD

The thought has crossed my mind ;) A V70 2.4 T5 looks the business on paper but I'd need to try one for handling. Ultimate sleeper!

Well, the cabin is taller, the boot is slightly bigger and back seats a bit more roomy. Ideally I want to be able to fit all the dogs and the ferret boxes into one car when I take the caravan out and they don't in a Leggy.

Why you selling up after all the work you've put in??? Manual Spec Bs certainly do still fetch strong money but I'm rather put off having another H6 given the nonsense I'm having with the current one.

Question: Car A or Car B has two answers.

1. Both

2. Car C

Both answers are correct.

Ha ha ha! It might end up being Car C at this rate coz I'm now not so sure I can afford the Legacy, even skinting myself and I'm now currently trying to re-arrange viewing of the Forester for tomorrow as the other half isn't feeling up to drive today :/ Said Forester is the wrong colour, I wanted a light coloured one, but I'm also hoping it's still there in the morning, having missed out on a fair few recently.....

I suspect Saabnut meant buy both cars plus car C,  just to be sure; you don't get as many cars as him without making that sort of decision.

flat 4 seems to forget she has a 4wd granvia.... cue the whine of.... its no fun, it doesnt go round corners, its slow as fuck... but i need a subaru and 4wd in case we get snow (she lives at sea level now)... i just wish she would take up knitting

she has also forgotten that she owns a 240bhp gen2 legacy that possibly only has a shagged clutch fork that needs engine out to fix but is a known quantity having had work before it failed, okay needs a bit of tlc but is basically okay, and she hasnt even tried replacing the bottom rad hose on the leaky h6 gen4 leggy... but it might be heed gasket, but it might be something else, one thing is for sure the bottom hose is definitely shagged.... wish she would take up jigsaws

260 bhp actually! But fuck knows when it'll be back on the road. I need something that can hold it's water in the mean time. I refuse to spend any more money on the H6 coz it's just throwing good money after bad. I probably won't make back what I've spent on it, which I don't mind if I actually gel with the car and want to keep it but I haven't and I don't in it's case.

Your h6 looks spot on, you should just fix it.  I suspect it's probably even better than mine

I told her to fit a hose and try it but she wint spend 15 quid yet would spend hundreds on another car that might need work... Wish she would take up chess

Even if it's the HG, engine out nastiness, what's the damage likely to come to? Unless you don't actually like it, in which case jump ship.

£35 for a hose and then you have the almighty faff of re-bleeding the cooling system.....Which probably won't cure the over heating issue and might make it worse if it air locks again.

Engine out just isn't going to happen. My tame mechanic wouldn't have time and I don't like it enough to pay a specialist to sort it. Had it been manual, aye, maybe.

Hang on...it’s an auto that needs extensive engine work and may be up for sale? Tell me it’s not an estate.....always fancied a legacy.....

Aye it is. Can't let it go til I replace it in case I need to move the caravan in the mean time but it is up for sale. May or may not be starting with head gasket failure. Temp gauge bounces about all over the place, previous owner reckoned faulty thermostat but it doesn't seem to be circulating coolant properly. Usually fine on a long run but creeps up when you slow down for roundabouts then goes back down again when you speed up. Hasn't actually gone into the red with me but does go beyond half way up the guage.

It is a really nice, comfortable car with extensive service history. It's been looked after but I've lost patience with it.
