Just curious, what's the lump of foam insulation used for? Knee rest or catch falling parts?

It's collection time, but not for me.

Somethings incoming to get the final little tasks done so it can hit the road and head to the land of square sausage.

That was 51 minutes ago and going by the speed of your work it should be done by now.

The return octopus does drip, and the pipe going into the reservoir loves falling out and making little green puddles everywhere. Hopefully that's all it is.

This afternoon I finally finished zapping in all the panels for the cill repair and welded in a new bit of tube for the jacking point on the trabby.  @Zelandeth was happy for the repairs to be visible so I just knocked back the high spots on the welds and will slap some primer over it. Its not perfect but its nice and solid.

Pretty damn good tbh. Much better than many "restorer" repairs I've seen on cars at shows over the years.

Fancy a job replacing my Dolomite sill? 😅 🙃

Yes, no need to hide the welds when you've nothing to hide!

Lovely work.

My dad was just saying at the weekend that his BX he had in 89/90 was probably the best car he ever owned.

Bit of red oxide splashed about. Tomorrow, underseal removal, cavity wax scraping and spot weld drilling. Ohhh yay!

After zapping the trabby up I really needed to tidy the workshop. So I washed the BX instead.

First up the inside was rocking a bit of musk and all the cob webs. No spiders tho handily!

Today some trabby stuff happened and the BX got shifted about and organised inside.

The boot was a little chaotic and mice had been in and made homes in the boxes and generally shit about the place.

Some sorting later and it's a bit more inspiring to work on

Decided to tackle the central grot in two halves, just incase anything want to shift white bits were cut out. I gave a smidge of support to the car and subframe just as a bit of help.

Grot cut out

This whole area was pretty shagged, the mount I was happy to re use minus the grotty corner.

Welding Done! Bit of paint tomorrow, refit the fuel tank (right above where I was welding and I could smell fuel from it)  and exhaust and it's ready to go home.

Looking brilliant again.  Thanks so much for taking this on.  Car is absolutely a thousand times better for it.
