Someone I know posted this in FB - an old school parts and acessories shoppe is closing down on 31 March and is clearing its shelves in preparation. Bargains potentially to be had.

Another old school spares shop closing. We have lost most of them around me in London now. Changing face of motoring...

Yes, it's a great shame. I mean, where will the people of Sutton Coldfield go to buy their motoring essentials such as paint roller extension handles. Of course there is a bit of sadness when these places go but I find it incredible that they have survived for so long.

If someone bid the lot, carted it off in a large van, did a 'detailed inventory' .... Then hit fleaBayz hard .... would the stock move?

*is tag 'n.o.s' worth coin ??

We inherited a sizeable pile of stock from a long defunct VW garage. There were some things that would reduce an air head wonk to a frothing frenzy (pair of NOS T34 Ghia inner front lamps still in their boxes, anyone?) but most of it probably came under the heading of dull but useful. Wiper blades, points, brake cylinders, seal kits, main bearing sets - all the crap that a garage accumulates over the years. With our VW days mercifully behind us and having a dislike of hoarding stuff a chunk of it went on ebay just to see it go to someone who wanted it. Obviously the T34 lamps sold for bloody daft money but that was it. Funnily enough there was no stampede of people desperate to get their hands on a NOS 1302 front wheel cylinder. Bloody stuff is still sitting in the stores now.

15 sets of Datsun Sunny brake pads (unsellable due to asbestos) and 5 Talbot Alpine ball joints will never lead to riches!

Asbestos? NOS... Really unsellable? What goes on at the Autojumble/Sunday markets?

Naow way mayte! There used to be quite a few if these old-school motorfactors in and around Birmingham. One in Halesowen and one in Weoley Castle, Birmingham are my go to places if I need something.

I was in Bilston High Street last week and noticed an old-skool spares shop apparently just about hanging on.

According to Doogle:

Amongst the most common car parts to contain asbestos are brake pads and shoes, gaskets, internal combustion components, clutches, heat seals and insulation. ... Fitting of asbestos parts is illegal and selling asbestos containing parts is also illegal.
