Coming from the south the George is on the right side of the main road  just over the bridge, the car sales and cafe are on the other side of the road also over the bridge. There also used to be another garage on the Hexham side of the bridge, it may be still there.

Just confirming - it's at the cafe on the left side of the bridge (Western exit from roundabout) not the pub/hotel on the right?

We agreed on 2pmish yeah, id say let's meet at the place next to the petrol station and decide once everyone's there.

The George is, or was, a 3 star country hotel so I don't know what food etc is available to non guests on an afternoon. I ate there a long time ago when I lived locally and my folks stayed there, It wasn't cheap but then I didn't pay. Times may have changed.

It's still a hotel and it still looks very posh. I can't see them being enthralled with us cluttering up the gaff. Stick to the Riverside cafe I reckon. See you all at two ish. Weather is looking better than yesterday's forecast anyway!

I'd actually have been up for this, on collection duties to Penrith. Unfortunately have family plans already.

 

Accessible location from the North though, will keep an eye out for next one.

I can give the cafe a facilities review if it's helpful. I used the toilet when I bought a 944 from the garage next door and would score them highly, 8.5/10. No idea about the tea or food though, sorry.
