I believe those Lincoln Town Caaaaaaaar contraptions are soon to be illegal for the private hire business.

Oh good. Get one and remove the middle bit with all the sick soaked sofas and the rear seat / doors to make a really short one,  2+trunk only, a 3-window coupe.

Is that Oxford painted to look like a Wolesely the 1960's equivalent of putting Sportline badges on your A4?

Here's one I made earlier:

I think they are already, but stand corrected if the effective date is still a few months hence.

No vehicles with sideways seats are allowed within the EU. Not private, not commercially.

Old vehicles still equipped with them can still be driven, but the seats must be unoccupied as soon as the vehicle is moving on a public road.

New Defenders have been delivered without them for a while now.

Safety, you know.

I've been reading up on 911s and the general consensus is buy the best you can afford . I can't even afford this and it's really fucking horrible so I recon I'll not bother.$_79.JPGhttp://m.gumtree.com/p/porsche/porsche-911-carrera-1998/1044407164

That is nasty. 996's that age aren't worth much more than £8k anyway and that's with MOT and a full compliment of lights, looking at the filled wing and bumper ,I wouldn't put much faith in the n/s/f suspension and steering at 160 mph.

Eh? That's news to me. I know new Defenders have front-facing but find it hard to believe they've outlawed existing seats. Like the ones in my Discovery for instance. Or the ones in my old 90 V8 (which definitely got used to transport family about).

You have to take my word for it, or pay the fine, because I'm too lazy to search for that EU directive now.

As with seatbeslts, I've always thought it odd that buses are exempt

If I get a job next week (reasonable chance) then I may buy myself that Volvo as a reward.

It "sold" last week for £410 ....

Yes, it only applies to vehicles up to 3.5 tons, so buses can continue with sideways facing seats and no seat belts.

I did find the new seatbelt regulations / directives for rear seat passengers:

- 74/408/EEC for seats

- 76/115/EEC for seatbelt anchorages and

- 77/541/EEC for seatbelts

They are effective since 01-01 and make traveling in side facing seats illegal.

I've always had a soft spot for the original Orion and that does look impossibly tidy and what a fabulous colour, too.

That beige Orion is FIT. What's up with the front end though?

Yeah that had me looking too, it seems to wrong for the model as it's missing the chrome strip and doesn't even have a gap for one, I'm guessing it's a Escort one.

Given the potential impact of this I am amazed there is not more publicity if true  - all I can find is this:

But no mention of illigality
