Mercedes E200 as E55 AMG

The whole car is badged as an E55, so instead of the 5.4 litre V8 engine that people will think is under the bonnet, you actually have a smooth 2.0i credit crunch allowable power station giving you a reasonable 31mpg on average.

Yip, I'd much rather have this an an actual E55, which I could get for the same money.*

Mmm. 130hp from 2 whole litres.

So a pizza delivery boy in a Cinquecento can leave you for dead at traffic lights?

I think he's had that Cortina up for a while now on eBay, it's a lovely looking thing. If anyone is interested in it I can cast an eye over it for you if wanted.

I've always hankered after a Mk1 Cortina since I was a kid. Whilst I'll probably never have the funds to indulge myself, is it likely that it would be a disappointment? One of those "don't meet your heroes/don't drive your poster car" type of things?

Theyre ok as it goes, quite charming in their own right. I wouldn't have a 1200 again if I ever had another though.

The red Strada posted a few pages back has been sold and is being exported to the U.S.

There is a real shortage of quality shite here in the US, I am looking for a first car for my daughter and have been horrified at the prices asked for old cars locally!

I don't why you lot keep taking the pass about the distance i'd buy a car from, I've travelled all over Britain to buy cars in the past.

ditto

bought one in Romford when I lived in Scotland - saw it one week when I was in London and a month later took a Fiat 500 to Hull and picked up a bond minicar in Essex, got home early Sunday morning and then went to Knockhill for the day.

it was Terry P*****n- need to dig the pics out of the Fiat. It had a TMS number and was a 500L - do you see him about - he used to make r/c isetta kits.

I used to see Terry around quite a lot when I lived in Hull. His r/c kits are something else! :D

Those Stalwarts are interesting bit's of kit. We has one on a marine salvage job in Norfolk, and the full amphibious capability made it quite useful.

Hardly MPG friendly though!

Isn't the transmission on Stalwarts completely devoid of differentials? I would imagine that could make them quite interesting to drive on tarmac.
