That actually looks pretty decent for £300 with tax and test. It's also the rare gravity defying special edition.

I had one of those V4 Saabs when I was in University in the early '90s, but it was the classy estate version.

 

As a driving experience it left me with an enormous appreciation of 1960s rally drivers, it went into a corner like a 2CV.  The column change was pretty good, handbrake looked like the lever in a railway signal box and the freewheel was always a laugh.  It also has front windows that pivot down like a Lancia Stratos.

 

Not speedy though, and quite thirsty.  The 1500 V4 sounded a lot like a Beetle engine, perhaps because of the side exit exhaust it had.

 

garethj's verdict: worth it for a giggle, but watch out of rust, fragile gearbox and very fucked balancer shaft on the V4

I seem to remember it was around 1500 pages that the ebay tat thread used to break things ... That was on the old forum though, so no idea what may or may not happen on the new version.

Bloody hell. Much like sierras, I had no time for cavaliers back in the day, too common, everybody had one, boring road litter. now though I could really fancy that saloon. (not the diesel esate though because I've driven one. and the 1.6d is SHIT)

I've got a feeling that that Celica belonged to someone on here, he dragged it out of a shed and had to do a mega weldfest on it especially the rear strut towers. Does that ring a bell with anyone esle?

 

Yeah that was Aled's, I saw it in the car park at the 2010 NEC classic car show.

I have a set of door cards the right colour but I think you will need a new front wing and a welding kit first.
