Go get your ears sorted, and then properly listen to your Rover.  Much better than a GT6 in so many ways.

I don't disagree, but where the V8's relaxed burble might be soothing, the rasping howl of a carbed straight-six at full chat really makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up...

My advice to anybody is try and drive as many cars as you can and if you are after something of any make  - try driving a couple before buying - see if you like.

I was lucky enough to drive a lot of this stuff when they were just cheap old cars - and restored they are probably better - but a lot of stuff is just a bit crap. But each to his own.

The Datsun 240Z is a much better car and outsold the Triumph in it's main market in the US. They are really fun to drive.

The kit-car comment is right - Triumph had body supply problems - so the clever small-panel and chassis design of these saved tooling with outside suppliers.

Yeah, to be honest, I'm not sold at £16.5k and some are far more than that so I've missed the boat there. But I still would if prices had stayed sensible. Its the smallest possible body wrapped around that engine.

To be honest the one in the video above is a bit harsh, I love a Chris Witor exhaust on a 2000, that's perfect but a bit big for my garage. It would fit if the rest of the garage was empty but I've built the shelving around my 1300TC so I'll have to stick with that. Being a TC it has the Spitfire spec engine with a bespoke exhaust so it sounds about as good as any four cylinder engine ever will.

No four cylinder sounds better than a Subaru Impreza (92-05) with the right exhaust.

And yet some say it's a Fiat twin cam. This should start a whole new thread rather than clog the ebay thread but then a Triumph straight six is better than all of them so we'll leave it there.

Difficult to figure the thinking of some people... personally I would just have thrown the entire filter housing away and made a velocity stack out of an old coke can

Maybe he`s got an old pair of tights stretched over the actual intake, like I`ve got on some of my Fiats...

Dear old Donald Stokes - so close to greatness but oh dear...what detailing.

Are all the dash plastics meant to be different shades. Who thought sludge green was a good interior colour with turquoise paint - and turquoise was that a good idea.

And the steering wheel surround - by splitting the plastic vertically rather than  horizontally you get that ugly join.

And the B-pillar why not trim it in brightwork to get the window line to run through and disguise the short door. And why not give the coupe a decent name  - 'Diabalo' was rejected  - the coupe could have been named differently to the saloon to make it more interesting.

Oh and get it to handle...

And make a really hotted MG version - oh I forgot you did not like MG Donald...

The car overall is a nice shape - such a pity.
