Actual dream car stuff that.

LOL at “MILEAGE BELIEVED GENUINE”

These things were run every day so the chances of it having 50,000 on the clock is precisely zero.  When mine had an engine rebuild it needed a new cam chain and there’s none of this nonsense simplex or duplex chain here - it’s got a triplex chain.  How many miles for that to wear out?

They’ve all got big miles and they hide it well until you start poking about.

Having said all that, what an absolute hoot to drive

Cheap Rover 45 with ticket until the end of the year. Recent MOT history a bit colourful but does that really matter when it's £450?

Seems a genuine seller based on the advert too

Automatic, which is a bonus for some

Jesus, I can't see anyone paying £2750 for that

Maybe I'm out of touch though as I looked at nice ones for less than that a couple of years ago

To me this looks like an excellent price for a genuine AMG. Especially a wagon which makes it more desirable.

It's older than that, second character on the plate is a 5.

Yeah, 1973 because it ends in L

Sold at ACA for £1700 + fees (so £1892 total) the weekend before last to an internet bid.  I had a good look round it and it's not as good as it looks, so not surprised the new owner is looking to get his money back.

The plate may be 1973 but I don't think Lexus was a brand over here that early?

L prefix is 1993. Its L505 I think.

That sounds right, I was too lazy to find the original post. Could therefore fit with the year of manufacture.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Fair play 👍👍👍

Yes it was deffo an L plate, I used to fantasise over owning one after I had a CAR magazine or the like stating they were the best thing since sliced bread winning I think every element of the road test they tried it on. I'm sure it was a black one and they couldn't stop harping on about the V8. I think it's competition at the time might have even included a late model scorpio, senator (both 5 years or more into the model run) and a 5 series, maybe a merc but it hammered them in every category.

They weren't wrong either, still quite a few about having given their owners very little bother over the years.

Seller doesn't seem to expect thousands of pounds:

I have used the Practical Classics price guide (Feb 2022 issue) for prices, as you don't see these up for sale often.  And in the guide it seems to be a Condition 2 vehicle - "can be used, having a current MOT, but needing work" - that has a guide price shown of £800.  I do have a number of parts for the car (new and used) that I have collected over the years, and IF IT SELLS FOR MORE THAN £850 will include these in the sale.
