'This Cavalier is the oldest surviving pre-production model'

Pre-production? I've had two or three 'F' platers and that's news to me

Strange. I once (in about 2004) went on a visit to GM's plant at Hellsmere Port, and we were driven across the site in an Unregistered white mk4 astra estate. I asked about them (we saw a few being driven around.

They (GM) don't put Pre-Production cars on the road, and sell them to the public. They build them to prove rate with parts from suppliers which may not exactly conform to spec, to prove the assembly line rate, and train operators, and either scrap them or use them as hacks to get to reception to pick up visitors, etc.

Pre-production Cavalier?

It was registered 17th March 1989. My grandparents was 21st October 1988. I could do a VIN search but already my bullshit glands are tingling.

Edit: who am I kidding? Build model year 1989, 148,000 off the line. F148HCH that was ordered on launch day was same model year, 103,564 off the line.

If this doesn't sell and gets relisted then I'll be having serious thoughts. It's local though so no collection threaddage, and I'd rather a dark coloured one.

3 owners, last since 1997, backed up by Cazana. HG reg says it's not been far either, that's Preston and the car's in Bolton.

I'm sure it won't get any worse than that if you started poking it. Maximum half an hour's welding in that car.

Pogweasel level 8, one door mysteriously untouched. Also 168k miles.

Oh, I think it's been very much touched!  Just on that one door.  Then he gave up the unequal struggle...
