I think a 2300 sd1 is probably more depressing than a 2000 especially on base spec. A 2000 puts your miserableness right out there but a 2300 says not only can I not get the v8 I can't even stretch to the 2600. It's like your life long career objective is to become an assistant manager in a carpet shop.

True indeed, but that one has had a 2600 engine bunged in, albeit with some added sumpy brokenness.  The car also shows that I was wrong to suggest to M. Bolleaux some pages back that the days of 600 quid (or less) SD1s are over.

Stop taunting me with SD1's!

I spent most of my childhood Sundays washing one, either the 3500 v8 dad had first or the 2400SD TURBO as it was badged which became my first car, until it accrued a garage bill so large I had to sell it. I used to love driving back from Leeds at 3am on an empty dual carriageway. Leaked oil everywhere and a neighbour complained that her cat had walked black stuff into their house!

It's nice to reminisce but day to day it was a bitch to start and was rotten with holes in the drivers foot well which made rainy days horrible. One of the springs broke when I was doing a three point turn giving the tyre a good puncturing. Easy Start was kept handy in the engine bay and the first time I took it for a drive after buying from dad the radiator sprang a leak and overheated.

Nah, I don't want one (unless it's a cream interior with matching velour seats) at all.

There's not much left of this, but at least it's vaguely sensibly priced (for an old Ford van).

Hybrid Honda with decent test for £400. This seems like no money at all I'd love to give it a shot.

This keeps winking at me, but it's a quarter of it's money just to get the sodding train up there.

Thanks, chief, I'm just (admittedly) half-heartedly looking into a couple of options.

how bad are these to run....??

The Autobox is the big weakness on these. It's lucky to have reached the milage it's done without imploding unless it's had a rebuild. Most are scrapped because of it.

Still the best looking A8 by far.

Rather fab, especially the seats.  I've seen a similar colour combo on an early Lancia HPE.  Japanese car interiors used to be cool, but went mucho dull in the 80s and 90s, I reckon.

Nah, disagree.

For me, these were one of the last old-skool Audis before they turned into insufferable carriages for tailgaters.

A friend of the family had a 4.2 V8 A8 and I thought it was the tits. Still do. I'll own one at some point.

This thing is back on.

Exactly my thoughts.  It's only about 500 yards from where I live so can take a look if anyone is interested.  Both my ballsack and wallet aren't big enough to have a punt myself.

buyer collects, may be better off with a dustpan and brush rather than a trailer?

Bonus points for honesty, and for not mentioning the B word in the title, even though it is quite clearly in a b**n.
