I deplore, deprecate, disdain, dislike and disregard all Vauxhalls, but for some reason I rather like that one.  Would it be nippyish or slooooooow?

They're actually pretty nippy. It's the same OHC engine they used in the fwd cavalier. WOULD.

Yeah, the hot ticket for a small engined car in the eighties. Everything else was making 50-60bhp, but these made 75, you were king of the multiplex cinema car park if you had a Vauxhall 1.3.

holeymoley.  I remember pre internet these xr6's where like unicorns. You heard people talk about them in hushed tones but you weren't sure if the existed or they were taking the piss . Turns out both xr6's and unicorns are real although I've never seen an xr6 in real life.

If you want to see one in the flesh pop down to spinks at dalkieth, he always has at least one in stock.

I wonder if this one is slowed down by the apparent wobbablob by the nearside rear arch.

This is just why I had to take a few months off from here at the end of last year. I am powerless to resist.

Wish me luck!

Had my viewing booked for Friday cancelled at the last moment. The seller has decided to keep in for now! Details exchanged and fingers crossed for another change of heart...

Doltmeter registers not much, and having one brown seat and one grey one is very AS.

The entire rig is terminally AS what with the screaming chicken decal on the bonnet having morphed into stag antlers and general shonkiness overall.

"... of course you're not a real petrolhead dickhead until you've Barried an Alfa."

Thankfully the visible anti-twatting measures look reasonably simple.

Those are troublesome enough to keep you in permafrown, believe me. Apart from the sledgehammer engine, everything is gleefully 60 CL, one of the best examples of Italian underengineering. Expect suspension mounting brackets being ripped from the body, constantly borked constant velocity joints, exhaust pipes on the road and not the car and all kinds of other nuisances.

It'll turn you into an Italian in no time, if jumping around your car swearing and waving your arms in vain is your idea of being an Italian.

So yes, you should buy it. And lots of Grappa. You will need it.
