Please make it go away.

Someone's asking about old ragtop Golfs elsewhere, an 80 with a cloth roof is preferable - but...

I think you'd struggle to find another car offering so much potential financial hardship for such little money. £300 gets you a torquey 2-litre engine, automatic gearbox, sunroof, plush velour (with some interesting staining on the back seat) and a full complement of walnut ('monogrammed' on the door cards). Unfortunately this is allied with a requirement for new sills, grim bodywork and all the hazards associated with a £300 big Rover.

Win Autoshite with a PROTON WAFTBARGE: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Proton-Perdana-2-0-V6-Very-rare-car/302057409110

I remember a couple of the mags testing these on British soil back in the day as Proton talked about importing them. Sadly*, they never did.

Shame that the wing is bubbling like a witch's cauldron, really.

I genuinely thought someone had either "Max Powered" or sat on the front of a 306.

I always thought those Safaris were powered by a variation on the Perkins Prima?

TATA's own engine which shares some dimensions with the 1948cc Indenor.

The Perdana is amazing. Must be one of the rarest cars in Britain.

Ah, springtime, when a young man's thoughts turn to love and everybody else thinks about buying a convertible.  Everyone on here starts browsing the 4x4 section for OMG SNOWCHAOS, so in early September let's see what the soft top offerings are.

This Audi 80 is the undesirable 1800cc version and it's had a hard life, but on the plus side it's one of the few that's not painted hideous green or pants purple.

This 306 is pretty, and low mileage too.  The owner says the hood is good, but also that it doesn't work.  I think we'd struggle to award full marks but at £425 what's not to like?

2 litres in one of these means it couldn't pull a sailor off your sister, but as long as the engine management light is off, it's probably not a bad drive in a slow cruising kinda way.

£1300 seems pretty cheap for almost an XR3 convertible.  This one has "no rust to speak of" which is fair, I don't like speaking of my car's rust either.

I saw a young lad with one of these last month, he was literally beating off the totty who wanted a ride in his cute little car.  Of course knowing the youth of today he'd get dumped in short order once they realised they couldn't pair their phone with the car's bluetooth.

I remember these being launched with loads of marketing rubbish about how it was the new 2CV.  At 10 years old it looks like a new car to me but to your neighbours will still look like a disgusting old wreck, it's even got different colour panels like that Cortina you had.

Currently at £108

This absolutely knackered BMW has more warning lights on than the Challenger Space Shuttle in 1986.  However it's also currently at £150

If somebody buys that BMW 6er, they'll win at autoshite.

If you like being asked 'is that a Mercedes m8?' whilst your car conspicuously dissolves in the background, this Lancia Trevi would be perfect. Other features include comedy ergonomics and the flattest seat bases known to man.

First to See Will Buy!

I'm tempted to view it, then say 'first to see won't buy' before walking off.

^ That Trevi has been on eBay for about 32 months. It was originally about 6 grand. I wager the first-to-see actually ran a flippin mile for some reason, as did the following punters.

Feels more like 64 months

And it's still got the wrong doors.

Right about those seat bases.  My Trevi was redone in leather and the buttock slideability* was immence!

It mobilised Africa, now it can mobilise you. This Peugeot 504 pickup is a beauty if you don't look too much at the wheelarches, and boasts such features as keep fit windows, a tweed upholstered bench seat and attractive loose wiring underneath the dashboard.  Cheap veg oil-fuelled hillbilly motoring at its best.
