eBay tat volume 3.

I think the Azura was a Ford parts bin special from a Google around - so it got the Pinto.

It is going to need those rear arches done - how much for a pro repair?

Posted

I had an Azura. T'was a pinto.

Shortest lived car I ever had.

Collected at 12:00 gone bang never to run again by 13:30

Edit: I never investigated beyond pulling the cam cover off expecting to see broken bits. Surprisingly all looked ok and it turned over by hand. Rod? Big end? Who knows.

It cost me £100 and the banger boys gave me £75 after I robbed some shiny bits off it.

sometimes I can't resist the allure of a bog standard Sierra with the last (?) of the Pinto engines and no electric gubbins (don't even believe it has central locking?)

BEHOLD: The giffer tat mobile.

Ready for this?

6869425.jpg

All this tat was fitted by the dealer when the car was brand new! There's a receipt for all of it, including:

  • Lubrocharger (a Redex injection device with a dash mounted gauge and adjuster)
  • An Austin Flying A
  • A bunch of illuminated switches and more flick switches that do goodness only knows what
  • An oil pressure gauge
  • Rev counter
  • A headlamp flashing key switch (dunno)
  • A Barnacle Engine Oil Gauge (presumably that thing which looks like a Lilliputian cafetiére)
  • Battery capacity indicator, brake safety light, and on and on.

I'm pretty sure that cigarette dispenser is the kind that lights the cigarette before giving it to you.

Where has this been for the last couple of decades?

has been sat up on blocks under a cover since 1990

Cool, got the documents?

I am waiting to hear from the previous owner who had the car for 30 years, they suffered a flood many years back and the log book is in a folder in storage

Right, wait - it's been in a flood?

just to clarify the car is not flood damaged, as per a question that was asked. the car has been stored up on blocks off the ground at the previous owners fathers house, it is not and has not been in or suffered flood damage.

So, it's not been in a flood, phew. But must still be pretty rotten from standing in a field so long.

JUST TO CLARIFY, THIS CAR HAS NOT COME OUT OF A FIELD, IT CAME FROM BEING STORED 1 FOOT OFF THE GROUND ON BLOCKS SAT ON A PATIO OUTSIDE UNDER A COVER, NOT IN A GARAGE

I'm not completely sure I understand.

I HAVE PICTURES OF WHERE IT CAME FROM IT WAS THE ONLY CORTINA THERE, THERE WAS NO OTHERS AND THE CHAP HAD OWNED IT FOR 30 YEARS OR MORE.

Okay, sorry. I'm not going to buy it though, I don't want a car that's been stood on grass for so long.

IT WAS NOT KEPT ON GRASS!!!

Ok, so there is unlikely to be anyone here who wants an AMC Pacer Estate enough to drag themselves over to LeBoncoin land to look at this, but it cheers me to know that in the corner of a foreign field lie a Pacer, a 928, a Talbot van and a?.....Subaru XT?

That's a Citroën van, innit?  The front looks too flat for a Talbot Express.

I've actually seen more Subaru XTs in France than I have here - although admittedly their propensity to rot might have something to do with that.

RELISTED - THE WINNING BIDDER WAS ON HIS WAY FROM BLACKPOOL AND BROKE DOWN HALF WAY HERE AND HIS CAR IS GOING TO BE EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR SO HAVING TO RELIST

Shame, sounds like he had the resources to finish this project to a truly exceptional standard.
