Proper old Mini (apart from the steering wheel).

Reading the advert for the "1959 Mini that isn't" I understand the story the bloke is trying to tell - although the headline is totally misleading and the whole story has a whiff of bullshit about it. Never heard a story that Austin Rover, or whatever it was called that week, decided to reintroduce a Mini modelled on the first 621AOK Mini. Irrespective, other than being white, they clearly didn't put too much effort in to the whole idea.

Some of the run-out Rover Minis were based on that idea. They called them the Mini Se7en, after the early austin Minis with a vague nod to the first ones, so I reckon that is fairly special, but even so looks really half arsed.

I'm not complaining about the vendor of the Mini, just that it's a half-arsed car with a half-arsed letter from BL and it's already at stupid money. If I were him I'd be sat at home pissing myself at every bid.

My Mini boat has not only been missed, it was torpedoed, hit an iceberg and then sunk. It also rusted away quicker than the Titanic.

Thats like Eccles in the goon show knowing the time because he had it written down on a piece of paper :-)

I'm just wondering why he was a previous doctor; struck off?

Shame these run out models got crappier interiors. Reliable as you'd ever want though and take huge amounts of abuse.

*Edit: or may be not, if you read the listing!

Tomorrow splodges of brown paint mixed with the green, shit alloy wheels and a £5,000 price tag.

This looks like a major bargain to me. Ok, there's no test but they seem to be making daft money recently

Those old Fiesterers (especially smiley face) are about as worthless as cars get at the moment, there's some really cheap ones out there and they mostly seem to get ignored. My sister absolutely loved hers but it rotted away.

only the mk1 sierra XR8 hatch was factory fitted with the 302.

the mk5 Cortina bakkie in both swb & lwb was avl with the 1.6 ohv kent & 3.0 V6 Essex petrol or the 2.1D (peugoet sourced) in its native south Africa.

Automotive proof that the world has indeed gone completely mad.

'1959 mini minor prototype,"mk2 mini minor" BARN FIND 621 AOK , unique car !!'

I remember that being featured in Mini World magazine and having the serious hots for it at the time.

It was originally a Studio 2 (still has the metallic grey paint in the engine bay) which was mocked up to be this "retro" mini from the time of the Morris Mini Minor / Se7en as a marketing exercise.

The detail isnt bad, down to the M in the steering wheel and M badges - it was never going to totally pass muster as a retro car as it needed to use the stock running gear and be financially viable to the bean counters if launched as a "Special edition" I imagine the amount of custom parts probably made this prohibitive as it was a lot more than some stickers and custom print cloth for the inside.

I like it, but the description is utter arsecheese. Barn find? My cheesy bell end it is.

As a prototype it should have been destroyed

Bollocks it should, they were used in house / sold to staff / sold on via auction why would you "destroy" several thousand quids worth of product?

I had the exact same model in Doom Blue - my god it was fucking awful - the only car I have ever deliberately left the key in and still no fucker nicked it.
