The old adverts in that taxi are great too.

This has come up for sale in the next village to my dad's so I've arranged for him to go over a view it for me, It's a restoration company selling it so I'm not expecting it to be cheap, especially with that number plate that i wouldn't want.

What would be a realistic price for this? It's a very rare 200 Quattro Turbo which i don't know much about and I really haven't a clue on what to offer for it?.

I think the 200 quattro turbo is basically a UR quattro in a huge 4 door shell , rare as a lot got broken up for URs. nice but full of electricery stuff that might or might not still work

I think this Rover V8 powered Classic is a solid contender for the Numberplate Obfuscation Award. Not only because you can piece together the whole plate from the snippets shown in the photos but also because of the method of masking:

Trigger, here's STUNO's 200 Turbo quattro that I looked after for a while, when he went travelling to Britain:

20130123-IMG_8858.jpg

A late model (1990), he picked it up for £1000 which was a bit of a bargain, but the market for Euro oddities is a bit skewed over here and the seller had spent a lot of time and effort (and no doubt cash) getting this one up to spec. It was essentially the best bits of this and two other spares cars combined, with the interior of a 100 S6. It was pleasingly quick and made a FANTASTIC noise but it had quite a thirst and is absolutely massive - don't underestimate how long these are, although it's probably about as long as a current Mondeo or something.

All in all, I'm glad I got to sample one but try as I might, it wasn't something I wanted to buy off STUNO, so was sold on to an Audi-licker. If you could get it for a good price, it would be worth a go but maybe for a few months, rather than long term

That's good advice, thanks Jon, The thought of a big 80's turbo is quite appealing, especially for the retro rides gathering but the more i think about it and what Rusty P says about electrics I'm starting to think it could be more hassle than it's worth.

It's a classic car restoration company selling it for his dad so why isn't he doing the work to put it on the road?. I have a funny feeling it won't be cheap either. Maybe I'm best waiting until something better turned up.

I'm a nightmare when i have money and I feel deflated after todays knock back!
