750 quid for this, I bet these are a well nice drive with the 1.8 injection engine.

Want level-exceptionnel

My mates were talking about doing a banger rally which I can't be arsed with. I want to fly somewhere in Europe, buy something and drive it back. That would be a prime candidate, although I'd rather go further East.

The Ginetta has a Cortina dash with Triumph dials and a home made slab of wood. The top crash pad and location of heater and vents are all Mk4/5 Tina.

To prove that there's an Autoshite car for you, no matter what your budget, have a look at this Iso.  It's 65 grand, like, and you'll probably never find another lunatic who'll buy it after you.  It's also going to cost a fortune in maintenance and that's without doing anything flippant such as driving it.

Thank you.  If I could find one in good condition I'd love it, I miss my old one.

But that blue heap doesn't look like a minter.

I drove an early mark 2 around as a loan car it was a right manky thing. It was used as the parts hauler. More grease and oil in the car than in the engine bay. Just had the engine rebuilt though. God it went. Handled pretty well too

Shit the bed, that Metro's epic. I spotted it a few years ago when it had 142k on the clock, and I want it badly!

the highest bidder will have to pay 20% vat on top of winning price

Really??? So ebay hammer falls at £600 and you turn up to be told actually m9 its £720......

How a car dealer pays his VAT shouldn't be of the client's concern and I seriously doubt the legality of charging VAT on top of an Ebay auction result.

Needs also to be checked against Ebay rules.

What kind of a seller you'd be dealing with is manifested in his demonstrated ignorance of what he is actually selling anyway.

I don't think anyone will bid. That's basically a £666 starting bid. For that heap?

They do develop some sort of cult status in the States lately, believe it or not, but not over here yet.

There are good ones out there for £2k. No way you can make a good one out of it for £1,334.

Wow. Now I know what I'd like to be smokin' around in when my numbers come up.  Not that manky white Spanish one though.

With the news that work starts on re-roofing 'my' big shed tomorrow, I am spending a teabreak dreaming of Renault 14s.

This is my favourite, I think.  It actually looks fairly viable:

This gold one is rotten as a poire, but check out the seat fabric!  Hell yeah!

This is a smart looking thing. Apparently it's some sort of early GM test mule for the 1900.

Bing-bong, it was nearly 3 and a half years ago that I saw this - here's the link!  It's near the bottom of the page.

So rare in this colour and spec and more importantly, mileage we all try to conserve the low miles models, but these who've done a fair bit are undervalued especially at this age.

I may feel a spot of sleeping in the spare room coming on... :-)

If anything is worth provoking the wrath of SWMBO I think this is it. Go for it Cameron.

Some cars have got better looking with time, but not all it seems. Still would though, perhaps like the ugly lass at the club she'll have a nice personality/be more grateful.

I've been on the Metro Owner's club website regarding that Applejack 1.3S.

http://www.metroownersclub.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=17935&p=116919#p116919

I think I may have been a little bit enthusiastic...

I can't believe the spite and questioning for this car that I'm reading in this thread, and there seems to be a lot of nonsense being spouted too. The car's done 144,000 miles, for goodness' sake - that's superb for a mk1 Metro. I photographed it in 2011, and coveted it there and then.

This car is awesome, it needs saving and preserving as it is rather than being "returned to showroom" or how it was when sold, as that would be a travesty on its travel through time and the roads of the UK.

While it seems to me that many club members lust after the original, the low-mileage, and the restored, on evidence of this thread they are so quick to critisice the high mileage cars that have actually been used as cars to get the owners (and their stuff) from A to B, and deny them the wear and tear and any replacement components or upgrades that that they suffer from that. IIRC the seats aren't from a later model, they are correct in period, as are the revcounter and rear badge, but as Dainese points out the driver's one is a bit sha**ed - this happened on my 120,000 mile 1981 1.0HLE in 1993 and so I welded onto the subframe a free VW Passat seat to stop my back from hurting. What he wrongly points out is that there's a rubbing strip rather than double stripes - this is a 1.3S, and so just shy of the 1.3 HLS - if the rubbing strips weren't part of the 1.3 S package, what's to stop the first buyer speccing them at sale or later? Grrrrrr!!!!!

I first saw this sexy beast in 2011 in Sampford Peverell - where the eBay advert is from - and celebrate the car's history and honesty.

I'd sleep on the sofa for at least a week to buy this and then keep this roughly as-is - would you, or would you spoil it by "fixing" it?

Yes, I'm being confrontational, because I'm angry about the piousness in which this is being discussed - it's a care-worn original, that's seen work and changes through its life but doesn't need rectifying - buy a low mileage one if thast's what you want! Other wise buy this, use it, keep it going, enjoy it and above all SHOW IT as an example of what the Metro was truely capable of if they didn't rust away to nowt!

Here's some photos from Sampfor Peverell in 2011, the tow-bar tells you all you need to know about how this splendid car was being used as intended:

I might decant the rest of the Metro Owner's thread to the grump thread to illustrate why I'm angry - but first, sleep - I'm on nights!

I'm sort of with you - although the fat decal stripes down the sides are one of the best bits of the S model, so if it were mine I'd be tempted to re-instate those if I I ever got around to it.  I'd probably have the black tape off the B pillars too.  But I certainly wouldn't get all religious about it...  this is why I don't do one-make/one-model owners' clubs.

This giffatronix mk2 astra looks cheap given it's just got 28,000 miles on it I wonder why it's not sold?

I looked at it last year. IIRC over a grand was being asked....

IMO worth 200 to 300 max. run it till it goes bang. I hink I put some more comments earlier in this thread.

EDIT to make comments should make sense.
