Well, the follow up to the old Morris estate was well worth the wait. Here's the Transit camper van they are selling...

Isn't it too early to be a facelift MK2? I thought they came out about 1984, mine had the same nose and was a 1986.

Posted

I would guess that nose was fitted to go with the V6 as it doesn't fit behind the original flat front.  You had to use the diesel nose.  The mk2 and facelift used the same front for all variants, so clearly things fit in behind.

Posted

Transit is a Mk1 with a Mk2 front fitted, according to vendor. But they're not actually the vendor, it's his niece advertising it. Anyhow, helpfully you have to ring them for the price, they're near Oswestry somewhere.

If I had a yard somewhere I'd try and get that on the cheap, bum rape it for any saveable body panels (ha!) and scrap the rest of it.

Posted

I dare say that mk2 facelift panels were easier to get and fit than mk1 panels when the front end on it was last repaired.

flat front mk1  won;t fit the V6  or the striaght diesels behind  so you have to use either a mk 2 front or the diesel 'snout' nose

Isn't that what I just said? :-D  IIRC part of the plan with the mk2 front was so the V4 could be phased out in favour of the Pinto.

Normally I'd be all over this, but certain things worry me about it, like the fact it's apparently been over here since 2006 and never registered .... Plus it's on the south coast and has no engine.

The seller of that Metro on the previous page says that he currently owns 18 cars and has had over 200 Metros, the maniac.  Surely the forum should 'reach out' to him.

Looks better inside than some Transit owners' houses.

Ooh, I got that, that's harsh!

Ahhh sweet, this place is like Waltons Mountain, always willing to think the best about someone's ringer Transit.

Anyone want to swap their car for some magic beans?

Not so sure this has been "dry stored" as the seller states to be honest. It's got Patina shall we say. Still for 99p start what more do you want?

Re the SEAT Marbella. Way back in the early nineties, my dad had one of these as a hire car in Italy. My abiding memory was the rear seat was basically a hammock with the fabric draped between a bar where the parcel shelf met and one at knee height.

All the ones I've seen since have proper rear seats. Did I dream this or was it's it a mega povo spec special?
