I'm not a big BMW licker but I love these old 5-series. They just look so 'right', spesh the rear 3/4 view. The proportions could not be better. This one's a 525E which I would love to try out, how can a 2.5 straight six and auto box ever be an economy model? I suppose its no more mental than a 2.1-ton Lexus SUV which is also a 'hybrid'. Quite a lot less mental in fact.

2.7 litre long stroke, with high compression, long gears and low rev limit (4750?). Seem to remember 35mpg was touted. Class body shape.

I thought this looked familiar

he was painted in 2010 at dubs at the farm.

I watched :-P

Your proof of exoneration being a photo showing you tied to a chair and gagged, after you were shanghaied there, I suspect?

I honestly don;t think that anyone (in modern saloon terms) has bettered that "shark-nose" style.  the non-symetrical exhaust is an added bonus to my OCD eyes

And thats not just the cider talking. and i fucking love you. you prick, if you ever do that agin i'll fucking belt you, you star, you absolute legend, I fucking love you

Right, unless I get jiggered by the tax man this month, a trip frog-side for some delightful bit of stuff is well on the cards for this spring/summer.

The urge is towards an early Renault 5, but I find myself revisting this little sloshpot... Just over £2k and seriously handsome. Google translate suggests it's ok, and some other shit I can't fathom... nice and close to LeShuttle too

This is now 500 euros less! Nearly shit myself, especially as I've now got some cash free... but this new picture just pissed on my enthusiasm. Check out that overspray

I was wrong. 4.5k red line. The head was used from a 320i, for its smaller ports. Intended for the Murri-cans.

PS Love the shark nose.

To be fair that's a good price really, especially in that condition, and probably not a bid investment. There are precious few 16Vs left, partly due to their complicated nature and partly due to them being dry bummed by 205 owners for the engine.

Wonder what's up with that Volvo 740 Turbo?  The road test of the time said they were quicker than a contemporary Golf GTi, under 8 seconds for 0-60

'Condition as expected for a 40 year old car'

Call me Mr Piss Onyour Chips, but I don't actually imagine many people expect to find a 40 year old car covered in fucking comics and having been painted by a raging 14 year old ADHT sufferer with several disco biscuits in his stomach after having ram raided Halfords.

'i have very limited internet access'

You have very limited access to reality.

do we have a new definition of pineappled?

I'm slowly warming to the idea of a P6 and that colour is rather tasty.  The boot-mounted spare wheel look good on these for some reason although I imagine it makes getting anything out of the boot a pain.

No, it doesn't. This car was designed by real automotive engineers, hence the Touring Package comprises a clever prop rod mechanism and a boot lid handle, which is in fact a Series 1 door handle.
