What spec is your Beemer Pog? An eBay purr-chase?

Posted

A late MkI Passat is in my top 5 cars.In fact that very car would do, is it on eBay?

Is was on earlier this year-but being close to what I would love to have I saved the pictures. They are so rare-but so right 8)

It's a '92 318iS, cranks out about 140bhp, which is adequate enough to hoss it along without being ruinous on the wallet (as my 325i was). I paid just over £500 for it off eBay, though I did get quite a lucky touch with it.

Wow that's super tasty, where did you spot that? 8)
I just typed in 'skoda convertible images' on Google, clicked on the link with same title and it was half-way down the page. I think the pic belongs to Car and Classic magazine. The colour of this one is just so Autoshite 8):D

Bugger, what happened with it, did it sell? How much etc? Was it on the eBay thread? I find it so hard to keep up with it...It has the R20/Chrysler Alpine look to it which I love 8)

If I remember right :? It sold for about £385. I might have put it in the ebay thread-but it was a while ago.....

Already got my ideal 'under a grand' motor!

I know what you mean, I think I would struggle to really top my current machine - which I could have bought twice for just over a bag of sand...

I mean, it's quick, handles well, has just enough toys, perfect driving position, will show 40mpg at licence-losing speeds and costs less to insure than a diesel euroblob. What's not to like?

Of course it's quite 'rational', so I'd also be inclined to waste £1000 on something really old, daft and horrid, like a side-valve ford clinging to an MoT by a thread, just for kicks.

I like your beemer a lot. I almost bought a similar one at the beginning of the year but finally opted for the 900 after some nudging by swmbo!

All of Bollox's 929s, a grand should secure those I would have thought.

For me a few out of so many potential choices:

And I'm not sure I'll ever find one, but one of my all time wants is:

I saw one up close at a show some years ago and fell in love.

Is that the Seat 850 Coupe version? or are you not fussy whether or not its a Fiat or Seat version? I came very close to buying one a couple of years ago, I drove it and despite being an old fiat in need of work it had a lovely snick gear change and felt quite nice for such a small car. I belive Colc actually owned it at some point which is probable as I think Colin has actually owned very nearly EVERY car ever driven in Jersey=FACT! :D

Hmm. I think I'd plump for another 2.0 8V Cavalier Sri Mk3 but an Astra Mk2 GTE would suffice.

Ah, I forgot there was a Seat version - tbh looking at the photo I couldn't tell you which it is! I don't know what differences there are between the Fiat and Seat ones, but I don't think I'd be fussy! I just love how they look from the back:

and they have a lovely interior as well. I particularly like the late ones with the 903cc engine and twin head and tail lights.

I would dearly love a Renault 14. I wonder how many I could get for my grand, but doubt that any of them would be RHD :(

Mk2 Escort 1300 Sport. The money spent on restoring it doesn't count, right? ;-)

A Porsche 924 in either white or silver. The only car I have constantly nursed a semi over for the last three years.

I've got a hankering for a Skoda Rapide with a Subaru flat 4 hanging out the back. I wonder if it's been done?

Drove a 924 for the first time last week.............I was distinctly underwhelmed

under a grand huh !!...well I have the cars I really want to own at the moment, but do feel the need to own an early Volvo 140/240 Saloon and a Skoda 105 or 120 and possibly a Lada Samara  but funds and time have conspired against me this year preventing me getting 2 of the 3 :cry:

I know it will be a disappointment but I will still have to scratch the itch sometime soon. Quite whether they are up to being used as a daily driver in this day and age remains to be seen.

I'm not sure if £1000 would stretch to the estate but what the hell.

Alfa 156 estate 2.5 V6. I would not class this as shite by the way, not at all!!

Posted Image

Or an Alfa 164 V6 (One of the best engines ever). Again, not shite!

And I wouldn't mind a Stage 1 Land Rover station wagon. All the mad old scout troop mecano bodywork but with a Range Rover gearbox and a v8 - detuned to 90bhp!

I had one, it was a good old bus. Take the inlet manifold restrictors out and it's manic, 130ish bhp I think? The best 4x4 S3 109 by far. That doesn't scan too well
