Didn’t someone pay £5.5k for one of these recently?

Bargain.

That might be me... The car was £3k and I've spent nearly another two on fixing faults and upgrading the sound system.

The others I looked at were a similar price and worse condition.

Brilliant cars though, shame this wasn't for sale when I was looking! It is indeed a bargain.

That is hawt!

Bargain too by the sound of it.  Well out of my reach but if you've got that kind of money to spend, its got to be a no brainer.

Couldn't pass the chance up. Auto, diesel, comfy and power. Passat is ace but I'm a lazy shite. All being well, next Friday for collection drive!

I thought you were buying that e280 w210 from Lincolnshire?

Posted

Mr Sims Passat will be up for sale as of Friday. Had the Merc on Ebay, as well as here........far prefer to deal with a fellow beige forum botherer though.........so if any interest in his Passat, please contact me, I have to make room for a Granvia........

Seller decided to give me the "oh btw it has this one minor (major) fault with the gearbox..." Line when I rung him to arrange collection. No thanks

Really? I spoke to him and he didn’t give me any hint. Grrr

Whilst the engine coiver is off have a check for leaky injectors, they all leak eventually.

Get a better code reader. You'll need one that can read Mercedes specific codes.

They have a tendancy to blow glow plug relays too - Ive had quite a few w210 e220 cdi’s and my sprinter (again a 220 cdi albeit with a different map to yours on) has had a blown glow plug relay for about two years - still starts without issue though!

Alternator tensioner went on it yesterday though... got recovered by AA - new tensioner being fitted as I write this to you

The glow plug lamp comes back on for a few seconds after the car's started on mine, which I believe indicates at least one of them is failing.

I mentioned it when I got the car serviced (at a shit chain place) and they said they don't do them because the risk of breaking them in the engine is too great. Well, that was reassuring.

The car runs absolutely fine and I've never seen the EML on so I'm going to ignore it for the time being. Might ask my trusted local garage to take a look in May when the MoT comes around.
