London to Brighton: did anyone go?

Made the annual pilgrimage to the veteran car run yesterday, starting at Staplefield then on to Brighton to see them come in. Fabulous as always, a great way to spend a day.

Was slightly disappointed with Staplefield this year. It's normally awash with classics*/shite/generally interesting old stuff, but not quite so much this year. Top of the green, that's normally full of such stuff, was filled by moderns. None the less more of interest than I see on a normal Sunday. Here are a few of my favourites:

Maybe this is the place to admit it. I can't get excited about veteran cars. Is it because they don't have windscreen wipers? Or often any windscreen at all?

I get very excited by Citroen Amis though; definitely one on my bucket list.

I think that’s matt Damper’s Ami. Could be wrong though. I didn’t go to staplefield this year as I’d headed in the opposite direction to the Lake District.

I didn't go this year but our local car club gets a coach up (which means you can keep the cold out with hip flask).   We park up at Hassocks on the A23 - the hill with suicide lane is good value there!   Another good vantage spot (provided the coach party get a move on) is coming into Brighton where non-existent brakes and slippery gradient offer entertainment.   Fish and chips before getting back on the coach - not a bad day out.   Probably give it a go next time.

I went from Anstey to Burgess Hill behind a convoy of RAC vans late in the day , I hope no one else had a breakdown in the rest of Sussex

We've been going for the last 20 odd years in the T2 at the beginning of October.

Not quite the same, but I also don't get veteran cars & it's an interesting day out.
