I didn’t gel with my dame edna 1.9 diesel estate. I found it too long and low after my Sharan. It didn’t seem to have the character I was expecting and I found the key placement annoying.

 

The main reason I got rid was because I found the seat uncomfortable and it caused me backache. Also, the DPF was missing and I was worried about the new MOT rules coming in. Shame as I was hoping for long term ownership.

Maybe but it was the seat that made me change really, not the engine.

Odd one today. EML was on when I COLLECTED from a service by the local Saab specialist. Said it was an issue with the MAF or some such crap.

 

Took it to a different Saab place today to get it checked on their Tech 2 code reader. They were too busy to even check it, so booked it in for a later date

Started it up on their forecourt-no EML!

 

Only things I have done since the service was to fuel it with Super Unleaded and have it washed (both within a mile of today's Saab visit, and within 20 minutes of the EML going out)

Might be the DIC, that EML. I had the same issue.

I think some faults don't record a permanent fault so the EML goes off again. There will still be a code stored when it's read though.

EML had been on since 12th September until today. It's not done many miles in that time, maybe 100 or so. Glad it is off now.

That was my finding too, that and I had to crouch to see out of the windscreen of what is actually quite a tall car. I think the last traces of Saab were eradicated for the Edna versions, it just felt like an unpleasant modern car to sit in. Nice stereo though.

Thanks for the feedback fellow sdhiters, good old SWMBO got the date massively wrong when we get the car on loan, it is around the 1st of December to early March. Women eh?

This, my 9-3 Aero would occasionally pop up an eml and then be fine. Reading the codes it was a knock warning for fuelling from the odd time I’d put £10 of normal not super in it if caught short.

We have it, it's actually newer than I thought, W reg 2.0SE Turbot, leather, that sexual cup holder CD and tape deck, but NO bum warmers, and lots of dashboard blanks, it's driver seat is tatty, but has 170K on the clock, badermatic box has a sensitive kickdown, and it seems to go well, boot much smaller than I expected, Mondongo was deffo bigger, saloon flavour with tow bar, photos tomorrow, overall, not bad for a free loaner

On the seat TADIS. I think it's because they're quite low, you tend to fall into them and then drag yourself out. Anyhow, when you're sat in it you can't see the wear.

I kept playing with the cup holder! TA SEKZ. Bizarre that the boot and fuel flap buttons are on the drivers door. So typically Saab, rear suspension does look a bit saggy, I suspect it has towed a big caravan some time in it's life as it has a meaty tow bar, and FOOK ME it doesn't arf get a shift on when it's overly sensitive kickdown kicks in. Gallons to the mile economy, which will please Herr Otto Von Junkman. I honestly cannot get over the generosity though, we've only known the owner a few months, and yeah the car is worth little, but it is the gesture, it means much more freedom for us, no more relyinbg on others or unreliable public transport for a while

First impressions, VAUXHALL, it;'s that bloody gear selector straight out of the GM parts bin, and the auto box does get a bit confused at times, I think the seats are quite firm, and the boot isn't that big either. I know it is a free car, but so far it is 'meh'. Will see how it is tomorrow, I'd love to get behind the helm, but the DVLA says NO

Discovered the double sunvisors, how very Saab. The interior smells very leathery, shame the driver seat is gubbed. I have dubbed him Sven!

UPDATE!!!!!! Nothing to report on reliability, AND loan period has been EXTENDED as the owner is using her Mercedes C class, also noted that the AA cover is through the Thalidomide Society as the owner is to do with it as she is sadly one of it's victims. Sometimes it is not what you know, but WHO.
