I'm going to be a complete dick and back out of this sadly. It's my dry week this week and house move tomorrow means I'm absolutely skint. Sorry folk.

Sorry to say so am I, I've been given a ticket to a stage rally at oulton park which had to be on the same day , just got a new lens and this be the last event of the season to practice with it

This opens 10am - 8:30pm for the last day of their year.

I think I'll get there afternoon time to get a good look around before it gets dark, maybe 2-3ish. Any one else know when they are coming yet?

I last went to Crich when I was about 6, today was an overdue return visit (not being unsociable folks, but can’t make the 3rd and took my wife and daughter). For those who haven’t visited/ are undecided I would heartily recommend it. The displays and exhibitions are very well laid out and the overall feel of the place is great. They also have a Dutch tram which retired in 1994 from The Hague so I may well have ridden it when I lived over there! That made my day. When I went as a kid I bought a pen with a tram in that moved when you tipped it, guess what I bought my daughter from the shop? :-)

Think I'll aim for 1 to 2pm. I'll be in a white 1988 Citroen bx assuming it gets me there.

If we're all arriving at different times do we want a meeting time & place on-site to meet up? I believe they have a pub...

Posted

I felt bad enough about it before but seeing my name with a big red NO next to it makes me feel even worse :D

They do have a pub, that someone bought down from Manchester a carload at a time! Took them years to even get it on site let alone built.

Highly recommend the tour, twice a day from outside the assembly rooms.

Would you prefer YELLOW?

I'd prefer to come but I've never been to the neil howard stage rally at oulton before and it's supposed to be really good.

Does sound good, I really need to get to some rallies next year, but I've been saying that for years too.

Posted

Sorry chaps but I am unable to make it. Am rostered in work.

A few years ago I went one one in Yorkshire around this time of year , really enjoyed it , free as well, a lot of walking through forests though , I was utterly knackered when I got home, oulton park is a lot more civilised , cafe , car to sit in ifit rains

I'm not coming, but may have been today. You're in for a fun time. I don't know if it will be there, but parked outside the pub was an ovlov 'converted' into the car from ghostbusters. It's a truly terrifying wobfest that you can't unsee.

The 416GSi sold today, and I had to let my good fuel relay go with it. As such the GTi isn't running too well, and won't be until my parts from Rock Auto get here. Can't risk it FTPing, so I'm doing the sensible* thing and buying an unknown car over 100 miles away to use instead.

I also have another option for the day, and aforementioned carburettor-fuelled collection thread to prepare for on Sunday. I also need fuel money for a the trip back.

The odds are against me, ah'm oot. My offer of a lift has also disappeared if Wack isn't going. >_<

That leaves two definites and some maybes. :(

Looks like its just going to be two of us at this rate.

Poor show chaps, that only leaves three currently.

I still want to go but can't do it on such short notice (I'd forgotten all about it) can we do it on another date or is it closing for a bit?

Posted

Soz, I'm getting my skanking pants on and going to Rock City in the evening...

Posted

Ok, well as I was attending for the meet up more than an interest in trams I'll knock this on the head I'm afraid. Hopefully something can be sorted for when it reopens next year.

Closes for winter tomorrow & reopens in march. We could do it next year I guess, doesn't seem anyone left on the list going anyway.

I think it's just the winter blues, I can't even be bothered to go to Oulton Park, it's cold and windy and a guy who went last year said you can't get near the water splash to take pictures for people getting in the way

I might see if I can find a proper forest rally and go to that instead

Post up the details if you do, sounds good if it's local(ish)
