Epic. Tony Pond is such a legend.

Enjoy.

Wasn't some skullduggery going on with the touring car Rovers at the time?

Big Tom had a liking for hidden Volvo hardware (allegedly)...

Ovlov rockers for extra lift IIRC, unfortunately spottable by the homologation police through the oil cap as they look different. As homologation shenanigans go rockers are pretty mild compared to what went on elsewhere.

That's the best thing I've seen in months. I'll have to watch it again with the sound up when Mrs Yoss is out. I really really want an SD1.

Incidentally, seeing all those TWR logos reminds me. I was following a local removals lorry down the M3 a few weeks ago and couldn't quite believe the logo on the back. I wasn't sure it deserved a thread of it's own but wasnt sure where else to put it. Well this seems like a good place.

That's no coincedence is it. Id like to think it's more of an homage than actual rip off. I'd also like to think they'd have a fleet of Volvo 850's for removals in a hurry.

I heard you lot like TWR logos...

The BMC rally crab had Lotus Cortina pistons IIRC, and I know all sorts of tomfoolery went on during the 70s, acid dipped shells, roll cages made from exhaust pipes.....

YAAAAAASSSSSSSS!

Tony Pond drives the way I wish I could. That sd1 is never straight...

Walkinshaw was a thoroughly disagreeable man.

Didn't TWR once hide extra fuel inside the roll cage? Safe*

Enjoyed that ta. I was lucky enough to have had a rotten V8 SD1 as a track/field car in my late teens, it was surprisingly good on rough ground and was pretty easy to hold sideways, more so than subsequent Mk5 Cortinas etc I had anyway. Ground clearance was a bit limited but not so much of a problem after we had torn the fuel pipe and exhaust off, even if it was a little bit loud afterwards.

There are some pretty good vids of them flying on the Goodwood channel, Mr Needell providing the sideways action iirc?
