Looks like its been sat a long time in that field, so would likely be hiding some horrors. Take it anyway, you can always weigh it in.

2.5 petrol straight six, has been laid up for the last 5 years :)

No, leave it. For the simple reason that fields in France are supposed to have cars dumped in forgotten corners. Thats just how it is.

And its probably utterly rotten and fit only for weighing in and I think it'd be a shame to do that when it looks good sat where it is.

If you have the means and room for it then get it!.If worse comes to the worse you could strip it and sell the parts on ebay for a quick buck.Lovely cars though.

i'm waiting for some interior/engine/Boot shots of the car, if it turns out to be ok, i'd keep it original, or if its a lemon call the mercedes breakers down the road

rock up with a battery, some WD-40 and a foot pump and drive it away! If the fuel tank has not dissolved that is (it will have)

Take a lemonade bottle & some old piping as well. gravity-fed fuel supply FTW.

yeah someone else said its a rare one so if nothing else should make some for the parts... :)

Don't think 250's are that rare - maybe they are in France where the engine capacity based purchase tax probably meant anything larger than a 200 was ridiculously expensive compared to a specced up DS. Have it if you want, but bear in mind there may be no floor left!

Posted

yeah thats what i'm worried about :?

Posted

If it's managed to sink into the grass, I think the floor is long gone! I think it looks better just sitting there. :)

Posted

going to see it next week, its been there 5 years so may just be grass build up around the vehicle :)

Posted

Sadly these had a tendancy to rot, without being sat in a field. I doubt it will be worth restoring.

I would guess its dissolving from the bottom up :(

Absolutely. By removing it, you are depriving some bored nippers of a fantasy land. As a kid on holidays in France during the seventies it was always a sly wander around to see what scrap was dotted about. Normally a Renault 4/8/10, early chevron grille 2CV.Around 1975 we pulled into a service station on the Autoroute near Lyon and there was a dumped Hillman Imp, RHD but with Brit plates removed. I stole the 'H' from the Hillman lettering on the bonnet and 34 years later, I still have it.There was an early sixties RHD Morris Mini Van dumped as well, and someone had actually nicked the wheels from it.

Get it!These are so under-rated it's untrue. Trouble is it's probably riper than a tomato on top of a volcano.
