I's just reheat it so the solder flows again. Nothing to lose.

As much as I dislike W124's, a wanked V12 Jag was never going to end well/make it home.

This

Junkman is obviously a decent chap and Karma stepped in.

An easy fix then!

Does anyone have a Haynes for these he wants rid?

Why? Have you got a wobbly table that needs something under one of the legs? :)

Diagnosis?  Soldering?  Repair?

I am disappointed. I was hoping for an extra switch wired in to operate the single bulb that was then manually operated at the dashboard every time the driver applied the brakes.

You're slacking Vulg. You missed out the hastily bodged in red tell tale dash light that comes on with the brake light to ensure it still works,

Tchoh.

I blame the climate being much too improved over the past couple of days for my oversight.

Have you fixed it yet?

Yes. It was one of the hewn from granite by Germans soldering joints that was broken.

So do I have a Mercedes to drive now?

That’s the Haynes the wiring pics came from. It’s ok, but half mine is printed upside down for some reason!

It did help immensely though. Thank you so much!

Glad to help. Until now I had no idea there was a light control unit!

Anyway, what's the optimal hewn from granite foam rubber/air/fuel ratio for these?

The inside of the engine looks alright, though:

There is obviousy a crankcase breather missing that's going from somewhere into that hole in the air cleaner lid.

Does anyone know from where?

Haynes hasn’t a photo and I’m looking through my other workshop manual now.

Try a YouTube search for the engine.

Ignore my post, I’ve just realised that the air filter box cover is removed in your photo.

Junkman, if you want an MB owners handbook for a W124 let me know and I’ll pop it in the post. It’s for the estate, but 95% of the pages should be of use.

What is that thing almost in the middle of the air cleaner box lid?

On my car it's currently a fringed, perished, hewn from granite rubber thing with a hole in the middle that never breaks.

GREAT NEWS! We can get past the PIN code on the phone:

"If the phone says "Loc'd", it definitely works with brute force: Type all digits from 000..999, but always press Clr before each try. Press Clr+000, Clr+001, Clr+002, ... If it doesn't work, you might have missed some range. Be focused and make a check list." Jolly 05/05/2016

Then all JM needs to do is fax his Access Card number to Cellnet and they'll reactivate it.

I believe that you are referring to the air temp sensor, which is partially removed in the photo and has since been fully reinstated.

Can't I send a Telex?

When I joined my company in the mid 90s we quoted a telex number. Can someone tell me what telex is? We never, ever had a telex message.

It's a precursor to fax machines, I had a play with one in a decommissioned power station that was built in the early 80s and barely used.
