Tracking at National Tyres is £15 with the discount code. You'll get a much more accurate outcome.

£46 on Amazon. It has the advantage of showing you exactly what is going on rather than just getting you to set the tracking to a theoretical figure.

I'm with ardtjones, Gunsons Trackrite, set it to parallel, I do on all my cars, nev had a problem. Any residual tyre wear is probably a result of camber for than track.

I've made a shaped wooden trackrite for the opposite wheel. They say use a mat but we found it easier to make a dummy Tracrite with a bit of ply with some strips of wood.glued on, planed to match the drive on part of the trackrite. Varnished it and it is as good as the day it is made.

It might be a bit OCD but our theory was that both wheels are presented with the same profile object on contact and thus would prevent any profile steer. That might be total bollocks of course, but even if the dummy trackrite didn't actually do any good, it certainly hasn't done any harm and save you loosing your 'rubber mat'

I favour the tracrite because it is dynamic. You can also dial out any minor steering wheel 'wonk' by choosing your side of adjustment. I hvan't taken any of my cars in for tracking in 30 years, do them all myself, nice feeling to get it all spot on.

looking at the maths , a piece of string around the wheels might do ..

the rear track is 7mm narrower than the front , so 7mm over some 2615mm gives about 28' overall , about 14' a side toe out if that ?

I might even nip out and check mine whilst its good just to check out the idea !!

ive got the trackace laser checker thingy...seems reliable enough , just dunno whos specs to follow

I can't recall the specifics but about 10 minutes toe-in on the rear (each wheel, and assuming 60" to 1'). And about half that on the front will get you well within the ball par of the OEM specs and I never had had an problems with the.......unlike anything German....

Rear toe bolts probably be seized and remember you will need slip-plates beneath the wheels.

Absolutely no need to adjust the rear track on these. The onlt timr it is scrubbing inner edges off is if the rear trailing arm bushes are extemely fucked. Never had much sales patter with National to be fair, I'd ignore it anyway as I'm capable of seeing when something is fucked anyway.

You can use a broomstick with a self tapper in each end to set tracking if desperate

Posted

yeah its the front settings im after..

Toe in a little and it'll be fine. People will tell you toe-out 'cos FWD but that only seemed to apply to French cars. Worth doing the rears but only if it doesn't put up a fight.

Posted

Unless you've disturbed the eccentric cam for the rear camber or the suspension is seriously fucked, I'd leave the rear well alone.

Leave the rears well alone . The bolts on the adjusters WILL be seized to the bush

rear hasnt been touched...ive fitted a new rack thats all
