Get a load of this bad boy.

 

 

It was moving up and down the canal between Leeds and Shipley last summer and I was kicking myself for not getting a photo of it when it was on the other side to the towpath so I could see it in all its shitty glory.

 

Thankfully when I started riding to work again last week it was there ready for a photo.

 

Its called the 'Piano boat' and has been in the news a bit

Bloke was on there with his son and kitten last year. Kitten went missing but thankfully the son seemed to avoid getting eaten by foxes.

 

Presume he has moored for the winter and will head off again shortly once it warms up a bit.

 

Don't think he's in there at the mo (could be wrong). If so I wonder where he lives when he's not in this?

 

It probably looks quite shit in these photos but you can't really appreciate the epic proportions of shiteness unless you see it first hand. However its doing better than the one behind that's 50% under the water.

I think this one used to have a Reliant Robin attached to it, as well as the split coach... will have to check through my old 35mm prints!

 

There used to be a former East German navy boat moored not far down, IIRC. And a carpark full of crusty rammel directly behind, too.

At a guess it's come partially adrift from its moorings(by accident or design) at high tide, drifted over to the bank and grounded, then the tide has gone out causing it to become tipped over; tide then comes back in and because the boat's at an angle it doesn't start floating before the water reaches the gunwhale and floods in.

according to  the news ,it's currently unoccupied...some yoofs set it a drift and vandalised it..it's still sat half on the bank ..last time i looked

Heh. No. People build house boats around here a lot but they start with crude oil barges first instead of whatever rowing boat/seagull combination that is

 

Last one I was on had an elevator that stopped at 3 floors (bilge, ground, upstairs).

 

There's more houseshite around here than boatshite, though there are a couple old paddle steamers hanging around on the Mississippi...
