Fiat 125 pretty impressive too - I'd assumed it was an FSO from Youtube videos I was looking at this morning.

Posted

I caught a glimpse of two large Datsuns on their way presumably to this on the M6 yesterday.

And an absolute dog of an A55. it looked like the body and floor had parted ways many decades ago.

You do see some pretty damn impressive rust.

And some stuff you don't see until the inch of filler has fallen off.

We got there for 9am got track side parking and had a very relaxed day walking round as they were all coming in and chatting to people we know, watched all the races and waited till most had gone before leaving without having to queue up to do so then a steady 80 mile  drive home.

great day 3rd one ive been to and cant wait for next years.

There was the usual array of Rivas. This was probably the cleanest one.

First time I've seen one of those being raced. There were two of them.

Didn't run the V8 though. Note passenger floor.

When it flipped on its side in one race, we could see inside of the roof.

Some truly dreadful old shit being bangered there - wish I'd come now and stood the Kraut bird up. Ho Hum.

I spy a FWD Taunus there as well as the front end of a Mark II Jaguar.  Pity about the Taunus.

6 cyl front end, not that it makes much difference now. I liked the Mark III Fords since I saw one in The Ipcress File.

In the unders class you are only allowed 1600 crossflow or pinto engine swaps if the original lump is gone. If he had put a V6 in it he would have to race in the overs class and he already had a car for that.

I remember that hatchback Merc appearing on eBay a while ago (unless there’s more than one) the hatch section is from a Rover 800

Posted

Surprised to see the dash still in the 3500S.

There was one at the 2CV world meeting in Scotland with the rear end off a Renault Express van...

Me too, but the dash was also still present in the Taunus and Minx. The latter was a genuine low mile car - which had been parked in a wet barn for an age, with predictable consequences.

Looked a brilliant day!

There’s some epic rust and filler work there too. Fair play to em getting the cars running, prepped and actually having the balls to race them too.

I still find it amazing these guys still manage to find some of this stuff too. Can’t be many more years left where that sort of variety of weird and obscure chod comes out for meets like this.

Was the big Chrysler the only yank of the day?
