What engine is in yours?

2.2 200. Last one was a 2.0 140 and I sold that on 189K. Original everything and running like a watch.

Chucked a bottle of Normfest CT60 in mine, I know there’s the usual placebo effect with these things but it did genuinely feel a bit nippier. Can’t have done any harm anyway.

I tried Morrison's diesel in my mk4 when I was in the UK last,it didn't like it.

Same with a small Esso station where I got some too.

It ran nicely on Murco diesel though.

MOT is up on mine in a month or so, checked the bushes out, a bit perished on the near side. I’d have replaced them but the tool is a fucking right price so might be cheaper the let the garage take it out. Pads low on the back so ordered a set at a bank breaking £14.50 delivered.

Could fit poly trailing arm bushes? They don’t feel much firmer than standard and no special tool needed.

Bloody expensive though at £137...

That is a bit. I paid £80 on Amazon. Maybe worth a look around?
It's always an option.

Probably about time to scrap it now?

Probably. But it’s done me some good service and it’s a fundamentally a good car unlike some of the heaps of shit you see people mending.

Airbag recall for mk4 Mondeo!

20201010_141351.thumb.jpg.f06d1ef409278c41a78f3d4b6a3a19b1.jpg

When I checked my MOT online, I noticed it said the car had outstanding recalls.

I guess that is one. We all need to have this looked at, then.

Cheers for the heads up!

Oops, I misread the end date as 2007 rather than 2017. [annoyed grunt]

Best make sure I keep on not crashing it then.

Haha I thought you must have had a mk5.

Service time for mine, tomorrow. Will clean AFS and MAP. Also I want to have a look at an oil leak. It was mentioned on the test and I reckon it’s the one at the back of the block that I noticed starting 2.5 years and 25K miles ago.
If it is that, it’s the turbo feed and/or return, I’m fairly certain. Access is no doubt a PITA, but I’m half prepared, given I am used to working on an MR2. 😄

Tyre time again.

Chucked a pair of new Avons on the front.

Hopefully they'll be decent.

Serviced the car today and found the source of my oil leak. It’s not the turbo feed and return as I assumed it may be.
As can be seen, it’s coming from the compressor side. So I guess it’s not long for this world.

The oil leak 10K miles ago was just an annoyance on the back of the block. But of late, it’s been marking its territory a little.

The other pic is of the EGR to hard pipe silicone pipe on the front of the engine. Oil coming out of there, too. As can be seen.

It still boosts fine and pulls as hard as ever. I’ve cleaned it off and will monitor it.

Given it’s running a 540Nm map I can’t really complain. Hopefully it lasts a bit longer, before intervention is required.

If the undertray didn’t have a square hole in it, below Ground Zero, I would probably still be blissfully unaware. 😄

Pic order appears to be Cleaned/EGR pipe/Oily - but they are shit, anyway.

Was just talking to a mate about this. It struck me that the above post makes it look like the oil is pushing past the hose clamp, on the EGR pipe.

It’s not that bad. I had it loosened off, to be able to access the oil filter housing. 😬

Unless it’s pissing out/making a mess/using a load of oil I wouldn’t worry about it.

It was leaving a couple of drops on the deck, lately. That may slow down - or speed up - now that I have cleaned the area. It wasn’t noticeable re consumption.

I don’t want it the engine to run away or anything on me and I also don’t want it to make a mess when parked, plus it’s a good example and I look after it.

It will get a new turbo sometime soon. Possibly a hybrid.
I’ll look into it.

Anyone else with a 2.0tdci finds that it sounds like its "pinking" on a light throttle. Its a 13 focus 163, but same engine in mondeo.  Nothing wrong at all, just the noise. Need to try different diesel brands but tank lasts me a month and a half..

Mine did that on Sainsbury's diesel.

Mine does it, runs fine though. The real sad times with a diesel involve smoke and running like a bag of nails.

Looks a right twat of a job getting the turbo out on those.

My mate did his 2.2 on his Quickjack and he promised me that he won’t even assist me with pictures or advice, spoken over the phone, should I attempt it.
So yeah, having seen the setup and recounting his chew on, I think I will be paying for this job to be done.

The difference is doing it on a ramp, so much easier to collect your thoughts and access things properly than laid on your back.

Aye, that’s why at the time I said you don’t get too much sympathy from me, as a Quickjack is still better than axle stands on breeze blocks or chocks of wood etc - and he had the luxury of being able to raise and lower the thing, without all the carry on I would endure.
